No I am not missing the point.

You're missing the point.

And the need for legal protection is probably because without it any opportunist from either party who isn't scared of dying from covid would have been tempted (maybe even smart) to go try to catch it, attend the rally, claim they got it there, and sue for a large amount of money.

Stop being hysterical about a freaking waiver for a rally that you (or I) would never attend anyway. My guess is a large portion of the people who will attend the rally are glad to sign the waiver and/or would have gladly volunteered to risk it regardless.

This is so stupid to be wasting your time worrying/ranting about when its a rally for someone who nearly everyone on this board absolutely hate and would never attend one of his events. Please try not to be outraged by anything and everything you can possibly think of when it comes to trump. Many of us would find it easier to take you seriously if you could.
We're having a conversation and asking questions. Trying to figure out WHY people are willing to overlook certain things while getting offended over other things is a conversation that needs to happen.

Now when I ask these questions, I am "hysterical"? OK, whatever.
No you weren't.
Ah, Illy's wanna-be-DC persona is back. You should go back to your Switzerland persona. You are way better at that.

It seems to be that some want the government to leave them alone to be free to make their own choices but to govern the shit out of everyone else.

There are about 25 people on this site that post, especially on topics other than basketball. Almost 0 would be able to answer your "questions" about why someone would attend a trump rally, because even most (all except maybe 1) of the ones who aren't left or far left absolutely HATE trump and would NEVER attend a rally of his.

No worries either way man. You and I are probably almost identical in ideologies, but you'd never know it by posts by each of us on here.

who are you referencing if you don't mind calling people out? Because I see very little of that.

I want the governement to govern the things they're capable of governing and/or things that need to be governed on a large scale. Especially on a national level. Environment, military, etc. Health care i am a little torn on, as far as the elimination of private insurance system. I do think EVERYONE should have access to health care, which can't be done via private insurance system for everyone, but can for many/most (so a 2nd component or more is needed obviously). I do think we need major government involvement in the pharmaceutical industry both in safety and in the ridiculous price inflation that goes on. The pharmaceutical industry should exist to primarily help people be healthy and NOT to PRIMARILY make stakeholders as rich as possible with their customers well being be a distant afterthought.

This highlights exactly the problem. I didnt ask that at all. The below is what I asked. It has ZERO to do with why someone would attend a rally:

"Trump is selling the virus as a dem/media fueled hoax and that we should have everyone go out there and "take one for the team" to get the economy (AKA his campaign) back on track.

If that's true then why the need for the legal protection?"

At least DC includes some interesting links with things to read when he intentionally changes the conversation and then calls us dumb for having the opinion that we didn't have.

I want to know why people who scream that this whole lockdown is just a dem fueled, media fanned hoax wouldn't question the need for our President to have rally goers sign a form preventing them from suing him if they get COVID-19 at his pep rally.

Govern very little but pass legislation as to who can marry who, who can get what medical procedures and when, etc... The list of examples of "use the government to limit activities that I don't personally like" is endless.

We're too big of a nation to do that any more. We have too much land mass and too many people and too much of a wealth disparity. Removing government programs just further oppresses the unfortunate souls who didn't get born with a white male lottery ticket while further enriching the wealthy.

It just seems that people only want to cut the government funding for programs that help minorities, women and the poor. They are the ones who need it the MOST after facing countless generations of oppression.

No I get it.

Some of you are making a dumb stance that "if there is no risk then why the need for a waiver". Its not complicated. I think nearly everyone agrees there is a risk. Even many of the people who will attend....and you are conveniently (on purpose) ignoring the high likelihood someone will get covid19 there and without the waiver would potentially have the ability to sue (who they would be filing the lawsuit against i don't have the slightest idea?).

So many more productive things to spend your time worrying about imo.

I think holding the rally is stupid/dangerous to not only those attending but the rest of us.

I think going to the rally is stupid/dangerous to not only those attending but the rest of us.

I thinking whining about the waiver if you're not attending is stupid.
I beg to differ.
I think not whining about the waiver if you're not attending is stupid.
Ignoring ignorance is a big reason why Donald Trump is still revered by so many fucksticks in this country.
The man MUST be called out on his bullshit - always.

You're right, there are "So many more productive things to spend your (my) time worrying about".
Doesn't mean I can't make time to "worry" about the fact that we have a President who is a piece of shit and those who attend his "rallies" now have to acknowledge the virus is very real by signing the waiver.

Here is my question, what rights do I have (as some who will NOT attend a rally) to sue the fuck out of someone who attended a "rally", contracted the virus there, and spread it to me?
I know the answer to my question.
Just another reason why the rallies and our President are nothing more than - a bad joke and a shit show.
Sometimes I cant tell if people want the freedom to make their own choices or if they want everything decided for them.
I prefer the freedom to make my own choices.
Now when a Republican preaches freedom to make my own choices to me - I'm tempted to tell them to get fucked with their hypocritical bullshit. I'm sure you and everyone else knows at least some of the reasons why I say that.

As a concept, I agree with you about "less government." I do not want them in charge of decisions about things that they should have no say in. But there are certain things that we simply must allow the government to do for the benefit of our society as a whole.

"Less government" shouldn't be a weapon that is blindly swung, chopping out anything unappealing or that doesn't benefit us personally.

Well, you'd have to ask trump and co why to know for sure.

My guess is because money matters.

I also guess I sort of disagree that he is selling the virus as a hoax. Especially boasting about him taking hydroxychloroquine and repeatedly saying it's only dangerous to elderly and immunocompromised..i know almost nobody that thinks the virus is "fake".

I do agree he is selling the lockdown is fueled by the dems. My guess is this is because many of his supporters reside in rural areas that are minimally impacted by the virus. Those people are upset that many of their businesses are being forced to be closed or altered significantly. He is just pandering to them like politicians do.

I see this first hand in IL as a blue state with a blue governor, but that has MANY red counties. Rural counties are upset that while they may only have had a few handful of cases, and in some instances almost 0 active cases, that their small local owned businesses are being forced to remain closed by someone making decisions from Chicago (and occasionally Springfield)...do i agree with them? Not in most cases. But I understand why they feel how they do. In many places they're now ignoring the governors orders in my state. Again, I dont agree, but only so much can be done.

That brings me back to the trump rally....his supporters want him to have the rally so he wants to pander to them....but he wants to do it without financial risk to himself because money matters more than lives to him.

You're talking about a very small portion of the population. Almost an insignificant amount.

I know absolutely nobody that cares who marries who.

I know very few who are against abortion...and those few I do know only are against it because they INCORRECTLY think thats the only thing planned parenthood provides.

Psych, I live on the Plaza and take public transportation. During the protests, I walked with and through those folks. At least with me, the protesters were polite.

Please go to Tulsa. Breathe deeply. “What do you have to lose?”
