My horse won a million dollar race today.
That and a slap on my ass gets me the slap on the ass and a small check.
Hard not to be happy when your horse wins a million dollar race, will now most likely run in the Kentucky Derby, and is an automatic qualifier for the Breeder's Cup Classic but the horse is still raw and overall ran a poor race.

P.S. - When I say "my horse", that really means my ownership stake is VERY LITTLE. Minuscule but enough that I am truly considered an owner.

What’s a “raw” horse?

Needs to be cooked more.
Being serious, I am implying he is still learning how to race and the little bit that I know about horses, I have observed at times he seems disinterested in the race. Baffert (the trainer) said he might consider blinkers - which are used to prevent distractions.

Blinders/Blinkers
I have always called them Blinkers but you're probably right, Blinders would be a more appropriate name/word.

Doubtful. My guess is the Derby will not have its usual attendance and I am not sure how/if I would be allowed to attend. I do have a few other sources but I'm not thrilled about the thought of attending during a pandemic.
Plus, I don't think the horse will win so that doesn't interest me in being there if it loses.
Of course I will let you know if I do attend. I will/would be happy to buy you and your wife a Derby Eve dinner if you're available.

On another note.....
Just got in to a facebook fight with an old friend of mine. She was boasting about her brother and I was brutally honest. Her brother is a piece of shit scumbag attorney who defends absolutely 100% guilty horrible people - such as wife beaters, child abusers, child pornographers, rapists, etc., etc., etc.
He's fairly well known in the Atlanta area and he is often interviewed on TV. Fuck him and fuck her!

Akin to raw dog, but much more ‘impactful’?

I hope Gutter gets a pic of his horse taking a dump before the Derby.

But, I hope it doesn’t take a dump during the derby.

Could use some advice.
Long story as short as possible, I have two close relatives who are in bad shape health wise.
Many people are concerned about them and that's nice. What's not nice is multiple times a day I have people reaching out to me asking me about them. It's not nice because on a day such as today, where I am outside enjoying the beautiful weather, the peace and tranquility of the lake, exercising (riding my bike) eating a meal, etc. I kept getting interrupted with phone calls, emails, text messages.
Maybe I am a selfish asshole but I really would like to be be left alone and escape from the misery and be able to enjoy a few hours a day. I'm just not able to do it due to people reaching out to me all the time.
Both family members are going to need "treatment" (one surgery the other radiation) in the near future so it's only going to get worse. I want to be able to keep my own sanity and the few hours a day I can have to myself is vital for me in that regard.
So.... Without hurting people's feelings, I need to figure out how to tell people to leave me alone.
I'm open to suggestions.

Geez and 99 - I appreciate your responses. Easier said than done. I need my phone for many reasons.
1) Work - phone calls and emails.
2) I am my mother's emergency contact. There have been times where she has needed me - immediately.
She is one of the people who is not well and I feel I need to be "on call" and/or accessible for/to her.

Of course I don't have to respond to people immediately but I have two issues in that regard. 1) I don't like to put off what I can/could do right away. 2) I still see someone sent me a text/email/voice message. That makes me uneasy because I know I get frustrated (and sometimes worried) when people don't respond to my messages.

Then the issue/trick is figuring out how to not be so anxious with your phone/life.
