I think i read that they are now aaying infection by contact, touching things is minimal risk. Almost all infections are from face to face interactions. Could be wrong but i thought i read that somewhere. Ive read so many things, so many conflicting things, its hard to know.

I spend a fair amount of time with a pulmonologist at one of the major Kansas City hospitals. He says the chances of acquiring Covid by surface contact are very, very remote. Not worth stressing over, or obsessing about wiping down surfaces.

I jeep a bottle of hand sanitizer in my truck, and use it after going to the store, pumping gas, golfing with the king of pop illy, etc.

I keep thinking that with all these new policies (companies sanitizing things more often, masks, social distancing, people more aware of social distancing, large events canceled) we should have a much less devastating flu season, especially if more people get the shot this season. Hopefully an upside to COVID is we can save a few thousand lives with less flu.

Interesting. I was thinking the opposite. All these lockdowns and quarantines people arent out and about exposing themselves to minor amlints of various types of viruses and building antibodies and immunities. Seems like we might have a more expansive flu season

You're sort of touching on something I've been thinking about also - there's no doubt that compliance with mask-wearing, not going to bars etc. is far from perfect. But everything that so many people are doing has to be helping, right?

I know many people including myself and wife, and many friends, will not be doing anything in crowds until either an effective vaccine has been developed, or America finally gets it's you know what together on the virus. I'm okay taking some time off from things I do in crowds (concerts, shows, flying, etc.) in order to be safe. I think there's enough people out there who are like-minded, and I don't think a good portion of people are going to be jumping straight into fray the moment Fauci tells me we are in the clear.

Oh yea, im good. I dont like crowds anyway. But, in a more general sense i dont believe we will all do that.

I hate crowds too, but it seems like things I like all occur in crowds. I hate pants too, and best thing about COVID has been the lack of pants I've had to wear over the last 6 months.

I've flown a couple times. Other than the music-train at the Denver airport, there was less contact and proximity than I see at the grocery store.

I don't need to fly for my job, and we are all remote through 2020, so I would only be flying for pleasure. At this point, I wouldn't go anywhere in the US for pleasure, and no international country I would want to visit would even allow me in, so I'm grounded for now.

Also, I get my groceries delivered, and haven't been inside a restaurant since March other than to pick up a few pizzas. Trying to keep as low key as possible and not take the boat out or hit the links.

The liquor store clerks seem to know me too well tho, so that's a bad sign.

My bro is likely flying up here for 2 weeks in October.
Flights are 150 bucks roundtrip Southwest from KC to Portland which is about 70% off.
He'll be masked up the entire time.

I'm also likely, unless things get significantly worse, get tested a week or so before and then am going to fly to KC around xmas.

There's just levels of risk that some people are fine with and others not.

Yeah, the holidays are going to be tough for everyone, trying to balance the risks. Obviously there won't be a vaccine by then, but hopefully things turn around on the actual spread, and people will be able to see their loved ones.

I haven't been in a bar/restaurant since March either. Picked up a few pizzas at Waldo Pizza a couple times, but they have drive up service. I also haven't flown anywhere. Was going to go to Ouray, CO with some buddies, but decided I didn't want to fly. One buddy is driving, but he's taking a couple days to drive heading out there and then a couple days coming back. Too much windshield time for me. I think Ousy said it was about a 14 hour drive from KC...no thanks. I also don't want to burn several days of vacation driving. So, maybe next year.

I'm hoping testing will be faster/more available by then too - so that if I arrive in KC, I could keep my mask on for the first day or two, and take a test there.

As far as bars/restaurants, i've been out at a few - the servers are wearing masks - and have always been outdoors.
