To the best of my knowledge, not a single business on Michigan Avenue, the Gold Coast, Streeterville, was "burned down" during the SEVERAL "riots" we have experienced in the past few months.
MANY if not most were damaged/vandalized/looted.
I'm 100% in favor of the POLICE protecting the neighborhoods, the residents and business owners doing what they have to do to protect their homes and businesses, but I'm not in favor of people who are looking for and actually wanting confrontation to do ANYTHING.
The WalkAway people are "fighting back" tonight? "Fighting back" against who/m - "the radical left"?
What are they going to do - walk around asking people if they are "the radical left" and if they say yes - "fight back"?
What exactly does "fighting back" really mean?

March, June, and July of this year there were gun involved incidents within a 2 block radius of a particular location near where I live.

This is a heavily policed area. People who do the shooting/s have to know it and yet they are brazen enough that they seemingly don't give a shit.
The police apparently can't stop this from happening. Just this past week I was involved in an incident RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE POLICE and they just sat in their car until I approached them and told them what the fuck was going on.
I'm confused because I have been told conflicting things by the police themselves.
My guess is the police are told NOT to "assume" and to only "respond to" and not "instigate" situations AND (or?) they simply have ZERO interest in getting involved in ANYTHING until AFTER something has taken place.
Either way/s, it doesn't seem to be working.

I just experienced a crazy past 6 hours and nothing can convince me this country will ever be "normal" - nor "united".
What I attended was actually a mostly "peaceful" protest and march. That was refreshing but,,,,there were way too many assholes who felt the need to be there - and be assholes - too.
I watched Trumpers fight (argue) with "BLM" "supporters" - and ridicule anyone who was not a Trump supporter.
I watched a "prominent" business owner yell at two people (guy and girl) who had a sign that said Blue Lives Murder and told them he hopes the girl gets raped by a group of Black guys.
I watched 4 guys who I couldn't tell if they were Antifa or what the fuck they were but if they were allowed to have and "open carry" guns they would have made Kyle Rittenhouse look like Tinker-Bell.
I watched a Black so called Rabbi call on me in front of literally hundreds of people and ask me to light a candle in memory of innocent children who have been shot and killed in this city. I was honored.
My guess is there is video of it that will be posted somewhere.
I watched an NBC cameraman get in my face and film me against my wishes. I admit, he was respectful AFTER the fact.
I watched a Black woman get in a cops face and give him the finger and laugh at him. Thankfully there were only a couple of thing that upset me in terms of how the people interacted with the police. Normally there are A LOT. Like I said, it was peaceful - for the most part.
I watched a woman who must have been in her 70s yelling fuck you at someone who politely told her she should be wearing a mask.
I watched a cop fully admit he "polices" based on if he agrees with people (or not) and actually said if someone were to get in a fist fight with these obnoxious WHITE BLM "supporters" we were observing that were calling anyone and everyone fascists - he would pretend he was busy looking at the sunset.
I watched an idiot lose his shit because the police set up barriers and he felt boxed in so he kept yelling they were violating his first amendment right/s.
I watched a seemingly homeless Black man go up to the police and tell them he loves them.
I watched a White man and woman tell a group of cops they suck because they support Kyle Rittenhouse and helped pay his bail. WHAT?
One of the cops told them he didn't know who Kyle Rittenhouse is.
That set the man and woman off even more. The cop knew who Rittenhouse is once they explained he was the "pig" in Kenosha who shot 3 people.
I watched a lot more stuff but that's more than enough to share for now.
Maybe I'll post some pics later.
In closing, all I can say is overall - it could have been a pleasant afternoon and evening but too many people were there to not support causes but "protest" too many different things.
Especially when I felt the need to keep the peace a couple of times and tell people on "opposing" sides to TALK, LISTEN, and RESPECT one another or NOTHING they want to change will change.

AGAIN I am going to say, this city (Chicago) is an out of control shithole.
I just may actually be tempted to vote for Trump if he promises to do something about it because God only knows our Mayor, Police Superintendent, and the Cook County States Attorney aren't doing jack shit and the 3 of them all SUCK!
Had an incident this early evening that also helped remind me that White Cops tend to be MUCH bigger assholes than Hispanic and Black Cops.

I was working on one of my properties yesterday in Hyde Park and I heard a volley of shots that sounded really close--20-30?--and they sounded like they came from 3 or four different guns. My helper and I just stared at each other for about 20 seconds until we both said, "is that what I think it is?" Sure enough, within 2 minutes, the sirens started and continued unabated for about 15 minutes. Helicopters started buzzine overhead. Found out later that night that there were a couple of events that went down within 4 blocks of us. The news reporter held back a lot of info so I don't really know what happened. What I do know is that a woman was shot but does not have life threatening injuries.

I have since learned the shooting did not take place at Navy Pier. It happened on Lake Shore Drive and for some unknown reason the driver of the vehicle that was shot at drove to Navy Pier.
I took some pics (will share soon) and am about to read the news stories.

Went to go pick up a script (Thyroid med) and a citizen alert goes off on my phone.
"Police activity" nearby.
SWAT team of about 10-15 guys (maybe a girl or two) "stormed" a building about 3 blocks away.
At least 20-25 police cars on the scene. Most a block or two away from the building and some surrounding the building.
They made an arrest. Guy looked like what I would assume JDavis looks like these days.
A lot of people making a lot of assumptions. I'm going with child porn or a bomb plot/threat.
Others thought drugs.
