Re: Fantasy Football
Man, good luck getting CEH with 8th pick. I was 7th last night and all good RB off the board, so I took Michael Thomas.pdub wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 10:22 am Have my work league draft tonight.
Work league has always been so goddamn sketchy.
One year a couple minutes before the draft, I went from 3rd pick to 4th pick b/c one of our higher ups wanted 1st pick.
Another year one of the higher ups made a mistake in the draft and they went back 2 rounds and re-did it. That same year the draft time was changed mid draft from 1 minute to 1 minute thirty b/c people couldn't make decisions fast enough.
This year we were supposed to have a random draft order set yesterday. A few days before that I checked my order and I was 8th. The commish was 2nd. Sure enough, draft order randomized, he's 2nd, I'm 8th, his boss is 1st. I mean...the odds...
Anyways, I may go Helaire ( b/c i'm the only Chiefs fan up here ) and Hill at the turn.

Re: Fantasy Football
It's an ESPN league where he's ranked 9th ( Miles Sanders ahead of him ).
I got a shot.
I got a shot.
Re: Fantasy Football
CEH is getting hyped big time right now. I sure hope he lives up to what his ADP requires but he is going too early for my tastes. If he is there when I pick 10th & 11th I'll grab him but he won't be.
Re: Fantasy Football
I normally wouldn't but everyone up here is a Pats fan and now are starting to get scared of the Chiefs - so I usually load up on Chiefs to make things extra fun.
This one is .5 PPR so if it comes down to Chubb, Mixon, Sanders and CEH, i'm goin CEH.
If Michael Thomas, Derrick Henry, Kamara or Dalvin Cook is still there - then that'll be tough.

Re: Fantasy Football
As soon as I saw Fish ahead of me last night, I knew I had no shot at CEH.

Re: Fantasy Football
I have zero problem admitting that was a homer pick. Just wanted a fantasy reason to root for him.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 11:21 am As soon as I saw Fish ahead of me last night, I knew I had no shot at CEH.
Re: Fantasy Football
Especially when there is no money on the line. No reason not to Homer it up and have some fun.jfish26 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 11:25 amI have zero problem admitting that was a homer pick. Re: Fantasy Football
Thing is, with the Chiefs offense, even some homering could still work out pretty well.
Re: Fantasy Football
I wouldn't have taken him if any of McCaffrey, Barkley or Elliott was available. I saw him as roughly equivalent in value to Kamara and the rest, so personal enjoyment in watching certainly broke the logjam.twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 11:30 amEspecially when there is no money on the line. Re: Fantasy Football
Yep. I "reached" for Tyreek Hill early in the 2nd round of my regular draft the last 2 years and he has worked out well for me.
My draft is tonite at 6pm so I am excited to see how it plays out. We'll see if any of the others have been prepping or not.
Re: Fantasy Football
Here's what I'm rolling with ( 5th pick ) in the league i'm commish in.
No PPR. 6 points for all TDs. 12 team.
2 RB, 3 WR. No flex.
QB: Dak Preskott, Cam Newton
RB: Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Cam Akers, DAndre Swift, Alexander Mattison
WR: Kenny Golladay, Robert Woods, Will Fuller, Jamison Crowder, Sterling Shephard
TE: Austin Hooper
K: Ryan Succop
DEF: Indianapolis
Obviously my TE and no. 3 WR is sketchy but I like what i'm working with RB-wise.

Re: Fantasy Football
Derrick Henry was there but had him in my other league so I got CEH with the 8th.
Then, with some difficulty, skipped Davante Adams for Tyreek Hill, because CHIEFS, with the 13th.
Re: Fantasy Football
10 team 0.5 PPR I picked 10th. Might regret taking Aaron Jones over Mixon or Josh Jacobs, we'll see. And kicker just didn't really work out well. Some nobody will show up soon and be a Top 10 so there's points to be found out there. Other than having a bunch of Chiefs opponents, I was pretty pleased with it. Especially compared to the other teams in the league. One guy nailed it but most of the rest of them had some real head scratchers. Like "picked a backup QB in the 7th and also drafted a backup DST and a backup TE" kind of head scratchers. Both Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes went in the first round. It was a thoroughly entertaining night.
QB: Matt Ryan
RB: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Aaron Jones, Devin Singletary, Latavius Murray, Tevin Coleman
WR: Chris Godwin, Kenny Golladay, Keenan Allen, Brandin Cooks, Sterling Shepard, Jamison Crowder
TE: Darren Waller
DST: New Orleans
K: Ka'imi Fairbairn HOU

Re: Fantasy Football
My league is so goofy that the guy who picked 1st overall (and obviously took McCaffrey) saw both Davante Adams AND Tyreek Hill fall to him at 20 and 21. That's an insane top three picks in a ten team league.
Re: Fantasy Football
How does that even happen? Were there like 4 or 5 QBs taken in the top 20?twocoach wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 10:08 pmMy league is so goofy that the guy who picked 1st overall (and obviously took McCaffrey) saw both Davante Adams AND Tyreek Hill fall to him at 20 and 21. Though my league last night let Mixon fall to 19th so the 2nd place dude has Barkley and Mixon.
Also 1st place guy has McCaffrey and Lamar - so the best players from 2019.
Year in, year out, I still think 1st pick is easily the best because you get a guy who very likely at worst will be top 10 ( b/c he crushed it the year before ) AND you get two picks at the turn -- top notch starters.
Re: Fantasy Football
I think, most years, the sweet spot is about #3 or #4. Wherever the line is between the Tier 1 guys and the Tier 2 guys.pdub wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 6:32 amRidiculous.

Re: Fantasy Football
Only 2, Mahomes and then Jackson. Kelce and Kittle went in the 2nd. The stunner was that the same guy who drafted 2 DSTs, 2 TEs and back to back QBs picked Mike Evans with the 3rd pick in the 2nd Round over Adams, Hill, Hopkins, Jones and about 8 other WRs I would have picked over Evans. Another guy took James Conner about 3 rounds earlier than necessary. Bizarro Land.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Tue Sep 08, 2020 10:51 pmHow does that even happen? Re: Fantasy Football
My general theory is that the Top 4 rounds matter the most and have legit #1 starters on their team. Beyond that and you start picking RB2s and WR2s and you can replace underperforming guys at those positions down there off the waiver wire. If you pick in the bottom half of the first round, you pick in the top half of the 4th round. You can survive a miss on one top pick if you come out of the first four rounds with three guys who will finish top 10 at their position. Shit, I picked LeVeon Bell in the first round last year and still won.jfish26 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2020 6:36 amI think, most years, the sweet spot is about #3 or #4.
