Perhaps the issue then is, we need to make the fight for unity a unity issue.

Cuz the ones saying “not here for politics” are ironically the ones framing it as a political issue, and also seem to be the ones who want to dismiss it.

It isn't a reason to dismiss civil rights.
It is a reason, if one doesn't like politics mixing with sports, to not like sports as much anymore, or, if they are running a message bored, to keep conversations/threads in the appropriate categories so that, pray tell, another poster who doesn't agree with a majority stance on this bored, can still discuss what the bored's intention is about, which is Kansas sports.

Not a good analogy.

It would be more like the officer pulls you over for speeding and while he's writing you a ticket, he makes you listen to him explain why he believes officers across the USA are underpaid and that they are not prejudiced against a particular race, and doesn't give you the ticket until he feels he's said what's on his mind.

I don’t mean to single you out pwhitt.

But generally, speaking, a message of unity should have been something bigger and better and rising beyond “the last year or so.”

But instead, certain folks had to drop a big squishy turf in the unity punch bowl.

It wasn’t divisive, until divisive folks made it so. Motherfuckers booing unity. Unity!

It takes a whole population to unite a country, but only a few assholes to divide it.
