Didn't even realize that we passed 200k deaths this week (via that WorldInfo aggregator). Deaths aren't going down even tho number of confirmed cases are. Seems like that means testing is still an issue, and might be more so than 2 months ago. So sad.

Deaths are a lagging indicator. If there wasn't a single new case of COVID we'd still see thousands more deaths from it

Of course it’s lagging indicator, but deaths are up from May when it when it was 40k a day, but less deaths, and hanging where it was when we were 3-6 weeks removed from 80k a day. Basically, we’ve been 16 weeks from 70-80k a day, and 13 weeks from when we should start seeing deaths. Confirmed daily has dropped from 80k to 40k, but deaths have been steady line last 13 weeks.

My mom's aunt died from covid recently. I never met her. Apparently she had "recovered" from covid, meaning she tested negative, but her heart and lungs never recovered and she died.

Some people think this is why the numbers are skewed. Personally, i think this shows how deadly the disease is. It truly fucks some people's body up bad.

Her family said that before she got it she was doing just fine. And even after she sort of got over it she was doing okay....but it left irreparable damage to her body that she was not able to overcome or fully heal from.

Covid cases up 13% this month in Texas. US as a whole is experiencing an uptick.

Gov (R) Abbott relaxed Covid restrictions for Texas again today. Restaurants can now run at 75% capacity, among others.

This isn’t going away because we want it to.

What’s the government’s plan again?

Many people/places aren't following the restrictions/guidelines anyway. Especially in certain states.

I live in a blue state and blue county and i would estimate 50% of the restaurants are not following the guidelines anymore. All depends on the owner.

I would also estimate 50% of the people in my area have also given up on following the guidelines as far as wearing a mask in businesses they are supposed to. Hell, we share an office building....my side wears masks....the other side doesn't.

Fucking insanity.
