I am sure he has massive amounts of depreciation expense (a non cash "expense") and massive amounts of interest paid to banks. So it is not hard to believe that he takes a loss or close to it nearly every year.

I like depreciation expense in theory. It helps in various ways...but maybe there should be a limit on it? Feels like at a certain point it is just a loop hole to avoid taxes.

It doesn't avoid taxes, it just defers them. Or if the asset is truly depreciating, spreads the loss out.

Not every unnamed source situation is the same. Take Trump's "losers and suckers". Multiple competing news sources confirmed it from whoever those multiple sources are. As opposed to, say, Obama saying "don't underestimate Joe's ability to fuck this up", which is one unnamed source in one Politico article.

No, I don’t trust someone posting inside information here. But I do trust the editorial processes at places like the NYT (which, I’d note, takes a ton of incoming by how they tend to frame things in a both-sidesy way).

Especially in a case where it would be very, very easy for Trump to prove the reporting was false.

If true, it doesn't make it better that Trump doesn't know who the Proud Boys are. It just means that he is incompetent. But I strongly doubt that it is true that he doesn't know ow who they are.
