I mean, Trump doesn't seem like "I'll go spend a few days at the hospital just to be sure" kind of guy. This seems like, "we might need to put this guy on a ventilator, and we just did the carpets in the residency" kind of hospital stay.

And like I said before, would be really nice to know if we have a dying president, or just some sniffles. We need some pressers with the docs.

Many people weren't going to listen regardless. We had a coorindated shutdown in my state, and it definitely helped....but it didn't reduce cases to zero. It just slowed the spread. And even then many people were not willing to drastically change their way of life because of a virus that they don't think will kill them (which is right and wrong all at the same time).

Cops should have been arresting people who still wanted to have house parties and were socializing in groups? Where would we put all those people.

There is/was no way to reduce the spread to zero, short of EVERYONE locking themselves in their house for a month or 2. I was down for it. But probably 25% of our population wasn't. That is their choice unfortunately. The virus isn't "deadly enough" for those people to be bothered. I disagree with them, but there is really no good way to force that many people to lock themselves away in their houses.

This is what i sort of hate about how certain things are reported....

An "official speaking anonymously" says something and it is wrong. They just announced earlier today that everyone is required to wear masks outside of their offices in the white house. So that official was apparently not very informed or simply wanted to rush out an attention grabbing headline to create outrage about the white house response.

My point is that the stance taken by Trump undermined the efforts taken by individual states to the point where they were not nearly as effective as they could have been if Trump behaved like a true leader who was actually interested in behaving as if he was President.

Agreed that the goal of zero would be near impossible but this could have been done way better with an a rural leader who wanted to lead instead just wanting to get reelected.

People just don't care. Did trump help the situation? Fuck no, but i am not convinced all these people are just following his lead. Hell, many of the people/businesses i know not following mask rules or social distancing guidelines absolutely hate trump.
