I wouldn't put much faith in the polls. They were very wrong last time. Biden could win, sure, but I don't think he will because of all the riots and ugliness coming from the left.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 10:12 pm
Otherwise their path to victory is non existent it seems like (according to the polls that niceNC and Fish have shared here).

Trump/Pence (given the polls) have barely moved the needle. They still refuse to say what they are going to do the next 4 years, instead spend their time attacking what Biden/Harris might do. There continues to be no plan or substance.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 10:14 pmI think the opposite. But like the first debate for Biden, all Pence had to do was not screw up, and he did well. There's more pressure on Trump to do well in the next debate, as Biden won the first, and this one was essentially meaningless.
Trump has to be outstanding the next 2 debates to really have any chance at swinging votes his way. And with the way he has handled everything over last couple of weeks, I don’t think he has any ammunition.
FFS, they still don’t have a healthcare plan.

Ok, so I have since learned she was in fact wearing a mask during the debate and took it off when she went on stage BUT in response to your post I will say........IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 9:51 pmDid she get near anyone other than her husband?
I didn't think there was a crowd there other than spouses and a small amount of others?...or has she been tested today? I think the mask judging goes a bit over the top at times, especially in a setting like this when the only person she clearly got near was her husband.
As Joe Biden would say, "COME ON MAN".
It was clearly stated that it was a rule and MANDATORY for EVERYONE in attendance to wear a mask other than the two people debating and the moderator. NO exceptions.
You seriously asked if she was tested today? Have you not heard or read at any time over the last 6 months that someone can test negative and actually be positive?
You say the mask judging is over the top. At times, I agree. Other times I do not. This was one of those times I disagree.
Our fucking President was just in the hospital for 3 days and many people he was around have contracted the virus. I feel NOT "mask judging" the Republican clowns would be "over the top".
Re: who ya got?
My worthless assessment of tonight's debate.
Neither did anything for me to make me think they would be a good PRESIDENT.
I feel Harris "lost" the debate. Not so much to Pence but more so to herself. Many people expected her to "destroy" Pence and she hardly did.
Several times she was served questions on a silver platter and could have responded in ways that would destroy Trump and she basically deferred.
I feel she should have answered PENCE'S questions directly.
I didn't like her answer to the last question. She could have used it to point out how big of a piece of shit Trump is and how divisive he is and she struck out on that perfect opportunity.
Mike Pence was exactly what I expected Mike Pence to be tonight and in 2016 Mike Pence being Mike Pence didn't hurt Trump enough for him to not get elected.

Yes i have heard and read that you can test negative and be positive. Obviously. If it is the result of a flase negative because it was a faulty test then you could spread it to others (obviously)... i assume/hope they're getting the better tests that have very low false negative rates and/or are doing multiple tests kits just to be safe.....now, if you test negative and are actually "positive", but testing negative becuase the viral load is still too low to be picked up by the test (different than having a significant viral load and being asymptomatic) then most of the stuff that has come out says you aren't infected enough to likely spread it to someone else in a scenario like that. Again, different than asymptomatic with high viral load or before symptoms begin to show early on, because those people are highly contagious, but they would also test positive (assuming the test doesn't malfunction).
The first few hours after you have been "infected" you will likely test negative and are also not likely to spread it because the virus has not had time to replicate enough. Symptoms take a few days to begin, some people are asymptomatic the entire time, but those people are highly contagious whether they are symptomatic or not.
I have been watching/reading the same stuff as you for the last 10months.
Side note: I have a friend who tested positive for covid. No symptoms at all. By the time he got tested the doctor said that his levels were not high enough to infect others but that they seeing people test positive for months after being infected. They think he had it months ago and never knew. That is wild.

The next debate for Biden/Trump will be virtual town hall style of debate.

If Pence didn't win many new voters then the draw you claim happened didn't benefit Trump/Pence.Walrus wrote: ↑Wed Oct 07, 2020 10:08 pmMaybe, but I don't really think Pence won many new voters. I think if they do some plexiglass between them with about 10 feet of distance, it might be something that could work. I think what Harris and Pence did last night worked just fine.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 7:27 amand [shocker] trump says he won’t participateNewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 6:54 am The next debate for Biden/Trump will be virtual town hall style of debate.
I get why the Debate Commission won't want to do that, they want it to be an informal setting type of thing, not standing at a podium, so they think virtual is better.
Here is Kansas, Roger Marshall and Barbara Bollier are going for the Kansas Senate seat and they did a virtual debate a few weeks back and it seemed to go pretty smooth.

Re: who ya got?
Biden is in his late-70s. There is literally no reason to do this in person. Trump and her crew are a walking bag of virus. Trump staffers could pass it to Biden staffers. This is why this thing is still spreading. Yes, we want to take all precautions for our norms and traditions to continue. However, even with 100% precautions, it can still spread. Then you add the Trump team, that are maybe taking 10% of precautions anyway.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 08, 2020 8:14 am I think if they do some plexiglass between them with about 10 feet of distance, it might be something that could work. If it's not necessary for people to live (job, groceries, doctors) then all other activities should cease. The, "oh, my buddy is leaving town, I'll meet up for drinks at his house, outside, 10 feet apart" stuff still doesn't work. You are using gas, you are picking up beer, you are still not out of the woods with this arrangement. It's a shame, but that's the position we were put in by this administration. 2020 was a waste, Trump's lost year.

I know a lot of people are skeptical of polling, but I still am a fan of it. Either way, 538's aggregator/model had Biden with a 71% chance to 85% chance in the last month. I know that doesn't sound like much, but the model is very conservative, and has a lot of weird contingencies built in (like people dying) so it is notable. Clinton at the end had a 71% chance of winning 4 years ago to show where the landscape shifted to.

I'm laughing because Trump is the one who contracted the virus (probably due to negligence) and now he is refusing to do a debate if it's not in person. What a fucking dickhead.
Apparently this was Trump's response and complaint -
Trump complained during the interview with Fox that a virtual debate would mean he would have to "sit behind a computer" in a virtual debate and the moderator could "cut you off whenever they want."
