who ya got?
Re: who ya got?
It's a distraction (not necessarily a bad one) and a way to signal to the public that aren't paying attention (and there is a good chunk) that something deeper is wrong with the president. I don't hate it, but it's a risky move when the coyote already has the Acme rocket, and all you need to do is walk away.
Re: who ya got?
The one real benefit is that nothing gets under Trump's orange skin quite like a powerful woman. Part of the play could be to aggravate an already frothing state.NiceDC wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:01 am It's a distraction (not necessarily a bad one) and a way to signal to the public that aren't paying attention (and there is a good chunk) that something deeper is wrong with the president. Seems to be a GOP thing. McConnell wasn't going to debate with a woman moderator, and Trump has struggled big time with powerful women.

Exactly. Throwing the tennis ball down the road might get Trump off some other asinine thing, or make him lose focus on either the election or ACB. Nancy up there, with her calm demeanor, talking about how his secretaries should seriously consider removing him from office, I can't imagine anything that would set him off more.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:13 amThe one real benefit is that nothing gets under Trump's orange skin quite like a powerful woman. But do we need to unhinge that man any more is the question.
Re: who ya got?
Well, when 95% of GOP members are white men who belonged to "No Women allowed" clubs from the 1950s when they were eight, and never grown up, and the rest of the members are white women who act like they are those men, I can see why the GOP wouldn't know how to handle a little estrogen in the room.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:16 am Seems to be a GOP thing. Definitely agree. Just another bullet point for the invalid election movement by the right.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 7:55 amI'm honestly dumbfounded by the stupidity. * Everyone is already talking about Trump's obvious impairment. He's making his case for the electorate already.
* This opens the door to immediate bad-faith "investigations" of Biden by House Republicans.
* This has no chance of a meaningful result, on any timeline (and certainly not a timeline that matters.
* Trump gets to run a favorite, reliable playbook.
Just insanely stupid. The Democrats should abandon this silently and without any fanfare, and hope Trump does something stupid today to suck oxygen away from this trash fire of an idea.
Although, unless the polls are WAY off, i just don't see it making enough of a difference to swing the election.
Re: who ya got?
This has nothing to with the validity of the election. It's a group of people to be set up to evaluate the President's current fitness as our leader. It's a relatively innocuous move unless you form an opinion based solely on a Foxnews headline.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:32 amDefinitely agree. To my knowledge, they are not moving forward with any actions to invoke the 25th Amendment at this time.
Re: who ya got?
It has everything to do with the validity of the election, albeit indirectly.
The right can/will say the left will do anything to get him out of office and they will list examples such as: failed impeachment that they call a hoax, then this 25th he is insane move that they will call a hoax, and the soon to come wipespread voter fraud movement over mail in ballots.
No reason to add any fuel to the fire imo.
And they announced yesterday that they are introducing legislation today...so you must not have watched the news last night or this morning....unless they have announced in the last 2ish hours that they are no longer doing way they said they were going to do about 16hours ago?

Re: who ya got?
I've thought about this. As bad as DDD is, he hasn't invaded a sovereign country for their oil yet. I'm still undecided.
Defense. Rebounds.

It’s also worth mentioning W’s brand of compassionate conservatism would likely be booed off the gop primary stage nowadays.
The base has just developed such a taste for the red meat.

Re: who ya got?
Maybe. I think the "red meat" group is probably smaller than you'd think...the rest just cover their ears and hold their nose and try to ignore it.
I still truly think the majority of our country would get along just fine if they knew each other a little better. Each side thinks they know the other so well and in many instances i think they couldn't be more wrong about each other.
Maybe i am just hopelessly optimistic.
Re: who ya got?
My thought was the same as Fish. I can't believe she would do something so remarkably stupid. The election is less than a month away, just don't fuck up and you win. Dumbest political move I think I have ever seen.
Re: who ya got?
She's live on TV doing it right now.
She is awful. How Pelosi Mitch and Trump came to be 3 of the most powerful people in the world is astonishing.

If you add all their ages together they’re like 8000 years old

Re: who ya got?
Agreed. Such bad options for leaders. I think seeing how old and senile that Pelosi, Mitch, Schumer, Biden and others are shows that congress needs term limits, badly. You just cannot have 80 year old people trying to run the country. You cannot.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 10:00 am She's live on TV doing it right now.

If we have minimum age limits then we should have maximum age limits as well....there are plenty of 29 year olds much more qualified than Trump to be president.
Re: who ya got?
The legislation is to create the Commission to review Trump's fitness, as I stated. It is not to invoke the 25th Amendment.IllinoisJayhawk wrote: ↑Fri Oct 09, 2020 8:53 am It has everything to do with the validity of the election, albeit indirectly.

And Congress is not even in legislative session right now.
