I think Trump is cooked, as far as winning or even being competitive in a true election. Like so much else, all arrows are pointed down and getting worse.

Well, the big operative there is “true election”

cuz who knows what this election has in store, since the gop just recently told trump it’s totally fine to solicit foreign interference in an election...and not only is it totally fine, but we’ll willfully bury our (and the nation’s) heads in the sand if you do solicit any!

Don't forget the GOPs non approved installation of ballot collection boxes.

That was just in California, right?

Right. You don't need to manipulate many votes themselves in order to manipulate the outcome. What they're doing - and god damn it was it predictable and obvious - is trying to create an impression of the unreliability of the count.

That's all we've heard about. How about the placing of only one ballot box to service hundreds of thousands of people in different counties in Texas?

I do take some heart - if the GOP has to pull of this sort of bullshit in Texas, it's cooked.

Record turnout for early voting in Texas. Less than three weeks until shit gets really interesting.

From an email newsletter I get, not sure there's a link. I think the approach (looking at polling in a state in which neither party is even trying) is really interesting.
The last time West Virginia went for a Democratic presidential candidate was 1996, when Bill Clinton carried the state. Since then, WV has been:

2000: Bush +6
2004: Bush +13
2008: McCain +12
2012: Romney +27
2016: Trump +42

This is the baseline for understanding what has been happening in West Virginia over the last 20 years. Looking at the state you can almost see the old Democratic coalition falling apart and white non-college voters shifting to the GOP.

For totally mysterious reasons that no one could possibly understand, that shift accelerated following the election of Barack Obama, with Republicans pulling in an extra net 15 points in each of the next two cycles.

I’m interested in West Virginia because if the national Biden-Trump numbers are real, then we ought to see some reflection of them even in West Virginia, because Biden’s lead is due, in part, to his re-capturing of parts of the old Democratic coalition and better performance with white working-class voters.

And sure enough:

https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/po ... -virginia/

I am not saying that West Virginia is in play.

But I am here to tell you that if Trump is really only +23 in West Virginia right now, then November 3 is going to be an absolute bloodbath for Republicans. Because it means that all of the demographic trends we’re seeing in the national numbers—Biden’s strength with seniors, Biden’s strength with non-college white women, Biden’s strength with all college-educated voters—are so real that they’re cutting 45 percent out of Trump’s margin in a homogenous state where neither side is playing.

There is a reason that the 538 model now has the single most likely outcome as Biden winning more than 400 electoral votes.

Early voted today--took vacation hours to do it. Took us two hours, but in 2020, make sure your vote counts early in case a bus drives through your house. Wave election.

Speaking of time off to vote...i think voting days should be holidays so everyone can vote who wants to.

In IL our state workers get voting days off....probably so our corrupt state politicians can make sure their people they overpay can get out and reelect them.

Dropped our ballots off (3 in our household) at a legitimate drop box this morning. The only one where our vote matters is against the ballot proposition sponsored by Uber and Lyft. Apparently they don’t like NO for an answer. They have been slapped back once and they are at it again.

It only takes one example to sow distrust in the entire system. It is as much about making voters question whether to even bother to vote as it is to steal actual votes.

Of course, the insane early-voting numbers seem to suggest this message has not taken root.

Ya i am just not buying into the paranoia that massive voter fraud is going to occur or that massive amounts of mail in ballots aren't going to be counted.
