It's also a matter of the FBI not wanting to interfere with the election. It would not be appropriate for them to say more (it was inappropriate for Ratcliffe to say what he said).

What will happen over the next few days is the good guys at the FBI will leak about this.

And so, like so many other things, Trump's idiocy will undermine his plot.

Trump's constant screaming has resulted in a "boy who cried wolf" mentality from much of America. He has screamed lies about anything big or small for so long and with so much vitriol that many people just flat out dismiss everything that comes out of his mouth. Sadly, it seems that includes many world leaders who basically believe nothing he says.

All actions have consequences, Mr. Trump. It may have felt good to lie every time you did it but this is the consequence. No one but your band of loonies believes you and your lackies any more.

I think that's exactly right. He's just playing all the old hits. That works fine for the most dedicated followers. But it gains no new ones, and chases a material number of them away.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here because this thread is insane now. But for those that are worried about the election results and what will happen, should be very wary of the future. If you think 2020 is bad with civil unrest, conspiracy theories and all that, I think 2021 and 2022 have the potential to be so much worse.

100% agreed. The real Fake News folks have discovered what a huge appetite many conservatives have for this Q bullshit and will just be pushing more shit down that sewer pipe.

I disagree with this. A lot of people are going to want to move on from this trainwreck. People don't have energy to keep up with this. Once the head pyscho is out, it should cause other things to dissipate. If the GOP is going to buy in to further craziness, it's just going to push away more and more voters.

See, I think the opposite. I think there is a good chance that it's going to get worse because Trump riled up a base that hadn't been riled up in 50 years. Don't think it's going to go away.

I think you are misreading the base. Let's go by recent polling and say about 42% "support" the president. Most of that is coming from the GOP party, which is going to go whatever way the party goes regardless. Only about 5-10% of the "42%" really are buying into this whole cult thing, and the rest just see an "R" next to the name, and go along.

Once the "R"s are out of office, it just turns into the minority party. There's a reason you don't hear much from Jeff Sessions, Jeff Flake, Rex Tillerson, Steve King, etc. after they leave/ousted from politics. Trump, maybe goes crazy, but I think it's more likely he slinks off to a golf course instead, and tweets.

I think it's a little of column A, a little of column B.

I do think there will be ugly, violent events. People will die.

But I don't think they will become widespread or well-organized.

I think a lot of people put more stock into how motivated Trump supporters are. Most are basement dwellers, not real people, or just white dudes who scored four TDs in a single game. The truly motivated Trump crazies, sure, maybe they cause a ruckus, but they were going to anyway. It's the same movement as White Supremacy, which it appears that very few knew was a growing concern until Trump was elected. This has been going on since the early 2000s, and the rise of the Internet/Islamic terrorism/Black Presidents.

Most of the folks are just good folks living and working and raising and dying. There will be no nonsense from those good folks.

there may be some nonsense in the usual toilet towns that participate in nonsense on a regular basis. chicago. portland. sf. nyc. la. Toilet towns where we expect nonsense.

Oh absolutely. I've been warning of this for a while. While I do believe Covid will calm down and not be such an issue, the economy and loss of value in our currency will be a huge problem. We may see civil unrest after the election, but the real problem will be the rise in poverty and homelessness.

Except that, when it turns out that electing a center-left septuagenarian turns out not to have caused a fucking apocalypse, everyone will be fine.

I am not at all afraid if Biden wins in terms of civil unrest. Facts have already shown that 90% or more of the violence is coming from the left. I am much more concerned in November if Trump wins. The left has shown they resort to violence much faster. Either way, we'll get through it.

We have put forth the worst collection of candidates in the history of USA presidential elections.

We have no one but ourselves to blame.
