Yet Trump was eloquent. Biden slips up his words. Trump plays Boggle with his words, not in order, not in syntax, and many aren't even words.
I certainly didn't say nor imply that, in fact the opposite. I mean, that's why I find it disappointing - Trump was a calmer version of himself, Biden had chances to rip him apart, and I thought he missed on a lot of those.
This was 100% don't rock the boat (but the vote) version. I'm a bigger picture person, so I think Georgia, Zona, NC, IA, then maybe something like AK, SC, MT, etc. on top of expecting CO an ME. I'm good in dropping PA in lieu of getting GA voters because it means more this cycle.

For Biden's team, this was a hold serve debate, hoping it trickles down. I don't see the downfall in either side. Trump, had no good answers throughout. But he said words, in order, that sounded like a sentence. This might give people like you or me pause if we didn't pay such close attention. But think about answer. If you were truly undecided, who do you think you would choose?
I had a conversation with my father about that exact thing after the debate. I don't understand how someone who cares enough to pay attention to the debate could possibly be undecided. So yeah, I don't think it'll make any difference in the end.

I think you, me, most of our friends, some of our family, are really paying attention to politics, especially lately. I grew up dirt poor. I got into politics because I was curious about the whole sportifacation of the thing. I was a freshman in high school during the 2000 election, and consumed everything I could about that election.

Most of the people I grew up with, and most of my family before 2008, didn't care about politics. They paid attention in the last couple weeks of presidential elections, and that was that. I think there's plenty of people still like that. People are too tired and worn out paying attention to who is saying what. They check in every 2-6 years, and that's about it.

Trump could have stood there with his middle finger up for 90 minutes and still looked better than the first debate.

Biden was far more rattled in the first debate and lost his composure in some form multiple times. He did none of that tonight.

He didn't seem too happy after this debate.

This was the only moment I laughed pretty good during the debate.

Not that it matters, but I thought the most powerful moment of the debate last night was Biden acknowledging, without qualification, that he was wrong on the crime bill.

I agree that it was one of the most powerful moments. Imagine that, a man who can admit a mistake.
A man who can look back and realize he could have and should have done something different/ly.

My concern is how much damage this exchange has caused and will continue to cause Joe.

Trump: “Would you close down the oil industry?”
Biden: “Yes. I would transition.”
Trump: “That is a big statement.”
Biden: “That is a big statement.”
Trump: “Why would you do that?”
Biden: “Because the oil industry pollutes, significantly. … Because it has to be replaced by renewable energy over time, over time. And I’d stop giving to the oil industry, I’d stop giving them federal subsidies.”
Trump: “Basically, what he is saying is he’s going to destroy the oil industry. Will you remember that, Texas? Will you remember that, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma.....?”

Again, I'm a middle guy here, but after thinking about it this morning, I don't think there is much doubt who I want as president. As I talked with my wife last night, I told her it's not so much that I really like Biden, it's just I despise Trump and everything he stands for. Yes he has done some "ok things" but he has largely been a dumpster fire with his demeanor, his policies and how he responds to situations that he has no control over.

But after thinking more, Biden really is pulling the empathy card with everyone and I believe it's sincere. Yes he may have flaws in his policy, he may stumble with words every now and then, but I truly think he tries to do what is best for the American people. Yes it may not please everyone, but for the most part, he truly believes what he does is right for the majority of the people out there.

His worst exchange of the evening, no lie. That didn't help, but I don't think it'll make that big of a difference in the long run.

It wasn't a great thing to say. I suppose it's possible that it will close the door on the outside shot at flipping Texas. But I suspect it won't move the needle much.

I am wondering what he really felt about the Native American / African American woman moderator.
It would have been golden if she would have asked him if he would like to address her as Pocahontas.

Look at all that diversity in the Trump photo?

Yep Texas is probably going to go red now for sure. But I think it was always going to be red, it's just a lighter shade of red then ever before.
