Election
Re: Election
Texas republicans are already outnumbered. They survive through intimidation and oil. I do hope folks understand the petroleum boom has run its course. But it is human nature to hurl oneself into future waters dragging anchors of the self-serving past
Re: Election
Fish - Two good questions I don't have the answers to. I just hope for his sake it's uneventful in terms of "unrest". Of any kind.
I'm purposely NOT turning on the news or going to "news" websites today - and I am just glancing at some of the posts on here.
I really don't want to have my blood pressure rise because of the inevitable horror stories that will be taking place today and tonight.

Re: Election
Not a great time for that - no matter the results.
Re: Election
If you are concerned that your town is going to burn regardless of the results, it’s probably time to consider moving.
Re: Election
LOL! I'm trying to lose weight and have been pretty good the past few weeks but I am happily eating some chocolate chip cookies right now. A lot of chocolate chip cookies. Too many chocolate chip cookies. So many in fact that I am getting my fat ass up from my chair right now and leaving my apartment to go take a long walk.
Re: Election
Probably true.
Hopefully those people can and will move to your town where the folks will welcome them with open arms? Or intolerance?
You know, I say intolerance because uncle Donald has put the fear in the suburban folk that them bad guys are coming unless he's re-elected.
Ok, time for a long walk. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Re: Election
I don’t understand why those in bigger cities don’t vote early.

I don't know if KCMO counts as a bigger city, but early voting is not a thing in Missouri. There are some avenues to vote early absentee, but even if I wanted to do that, I would not be technically eligible.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:38 am I don’t understand why those in bigger cities don’t vote early.
Granted, I walked right up to the counter this morning around 10:30 AM in one of the largest precincts in the city. I'm not sure what to infer from that, if anything.
Re: Election
I live in a very small city within the KC metro, and don't anticipate much of a wait today.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:38 am I don’t understand why those in bigger cities don’t vote early.
I'm voting today (as opposed to mailing in) because I wanted assurance that when you see results come in tonight, you see my vote.
Re: Election
The president has been barbecued for expressing concern with the mail in voting. He will be relieved to know the fish shares his concerns.
The fish and dt have something in common. That is nice.

"Some critical battlegrounds states are still experiencing a drop in processing scores below 90%.
Just 52% of the Atlanta district's ballots, and 69% of ballots in wide swaths of North Carolina moved on-time on Sunday and Monday, the USPS reported. The two districts had the lowest processing scores in the US.
Fewer than than 80% of ballots in Pennsylvania and Ohio were moved on time, with Central Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley sinking into the low 70s. Michigan, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Maine all had processing scores well below the 90% mark."

Gee, what a surprise. The USPS grinding to a halt in key battleground areas. Color me shocked.

Re: Election
Thankfully, it seems as if most folks avoided sending them at the last minute.
