Yes, but with completely different circumstances. The Dems beef was that SCOTUS essentially made Florida stop counting ballots.

I can't remember, were there two senators that objected?

You're talking about 2000. I'm talking 2004. See the article. Like Hawley, they said they want to "draw attention to the need for aggressive election reform in the wake of what they said were widespread voter problems."

I think Boxer was the only Senator

Boxer thought Ohio was engaging in voter suppression. That was the only state that was challenged.

Sure, but this whataboutism is more legit than most the Republicans throw out. People saying that this act is an attack on Democracy itself didn't say that last time it happened.

A Senator and a member of the House both voted against accepting the certified electors for Ohio. And it was so inconsequential that barely anyone remembers it happened. Keep that in mind when people scream about how awful it is that Senators are now threatening to not accept votes.

From a political viewpoint... If the Republican party is going to fracture, this may be the catalyst. Do they represent their constituents or their consciences.

do you mean to suggest this time around is the exact same to you?

to me, 04 was a much quainter time, when social media was still nothing more than some creepy hot-or-not site for college kids to poke each other on.

The timing of the Georgia runoffs is incredibly dangerous. We'd be in a much better spot if Republicans didn't need to pretend to not hate Trump as of the certification of the Electoral College vote.
