As Giuliani says, this is kind of a kick in the head.

Let this sink in. While Congress is waiting for the Capitol to be cleared of violent insurrectionists so they can fulfill their duties, Rudy is working the phones trying to get more Congress members to slow down the vote.

I think today has been a disgrace, and lindsey, ted, mitch, et al are responsible.
Its a disgrace and a devastating blow to normalcy and hope of washing away the hate thats been brewing for years. It does nothing to help heal the broken divide.

Hawley is a typical Missourian. Even ivy league educated, can’t help being a crazy seditionist.

All but one of my conservative friends has condemned the actions today. I hope that today is a catalyst to working together. I fear that it is not.

4 people are dead today.

There is blood on the hands of Donald Trump and his pathetic minions Hawley and Cruz.

The key is those who are friends with you are most likely good people with common sense.
Unfortunately we live in a country where a large percentage of the citizens really suck.
No doubt there are plenty on "the Left" but probably a considerable amount more on "the Right" - who suck.

how do we convince folks that the best news is the most objective news, and not just the news that fits their world view?

And do we get another “both sides do it,” or can we finally admit misinformation is a much bigger problem on the right?

Just a reminder that as many people (4) died yesterday when lunatic terrorists stormed the US Capital to protest imaginary fraud as when lunatic terrorists stormed the US facilities in Benghazi.

such a sad, shameful day for our country

the dichotomy/contrast between the preparedness and response yesterday, to that which occurred during BLM protests is truly disturbing

and fuck gaetz for trying to pin yesterday’s events on antifa...that’s the kind of dangerous language that enabled the proud boy/qanon/lobster terrorists in the first place

The problem is that many media sources refer to themselves as NEWS when they are primarily predominately "reporting" their BIASED OPINIONS and not simply presenting "news" as a fact.
We live in a country full of morons who can't (or refuse to) differentiate between facts and BIASED opinions when they watch/read/listen to their "news" sources.

I read so many people on social media last night saying - "what about" and "but".
I would respond - Of course the rioting, looting, violence, over the summer was inexcusable and shameful and no one should forgive nor ignore it.
Meanwhile, yesterday I felt there were really no what abouts and buts that were needed to be addressed and that we should be focusing on today/now and what was happening in the present.
I tried to respectfully engage people by asking them can't both sides be wrong in regards to their NEGATIVE actions? I asked a few people why do you choose to deflect and why are you seemingly incapable or admitting you find fault in your "side's" actions?
NOT ONCE did I get a thoughtful or respectful answer/response in return.
That my friends is why I feel there is little hope for the future.
People refuse to reflect and acknowledge that what what they believe in and support isn't always 100% right in the way other people express it and their actions in doing as such.
It's ok, to find fault with and be ashamed of those who's actions are immoral. No matter what "side" they are on.

The people doing this are getting the fuel for their lunacy through social media, not cable news. FoxNews is downright normal compared to the shit they get from Facebook, Twitter, Parler and other sites.

I suspect it’s going to take a generation of work - which perhaps can’t start until a generation passes - to unpack what’s happened here.

For my part, these two things can be true at once: (1) what McConnell, Graham, Lee, Lankford etc. said yesterday was good and necessary and welcome, and (2) what McConnell, Graham, Lee, Lankford etc. said yesterday does not absolve them of being complicit for getting to this point. Indeed, their recalcitrance probably puts a neat bow on their prior bad faith; of course they knew all along.

I can’t begin to think of how we heal. And so I think you just have to start chipping away at making things better. Big things and little things. And you have to trust the people to come back to you because of the inherent quality of your actions, not your words.

I listened to Mayor Bowser last night. I'm far from being an expert on law enforcement but clearly the D.C. and Capitol police were both ill-prepared and often fail to work well in unison.
As far as what the "federal" law enforcement should have done, they fucked up too.
It's very frightening to me how incompetent and worthless our "law enforcement officials" are in this country. I mean come on, protecting the most important building and people in the country yesterday was a complete inexcusable shit show. On ALL law enforcement fronts.

AS far as Getz, he's proven to be too stupid and too much of an asshole to ever be taken seriously.
There are photos of KNOWN Trump supporters who are KNOWN "members" of "far-right" groups who were photographed in the Capitol.
Hell, while I doubt it, I will say there MAY have been a few people "posing as" but CLEARLY the majority of those who "stormed" the Capitol were NOT "Antifa". So why won't Getz chastise them? That's right! Because he's an ignorant fuck who is a major part of the problem in this country - and not the solution.

ironic, that white supremacists/nationalists breach the capitol while at basically the same time, Warnock wins in Georgia as the pastor of MLK’s church

heads should roll at the top of the capitol police. there are images of officers taking selfies with the insurrectionists and apparently opening up a barricade to allow them closer to the capitol building

and, it’s not like this was a spontaneous thing...right-wing social media and trump himself have been planning this and warning of what was to come for weeks

“Ironic,” to me, implies a lack of causality between two things, but the two things are somehow related.

I don’t think there’s any irony here. I think the carnage and rage yesterday was directly related, in part, to Warnock’s win. And Warnock’s win was directly related, in part, to the same moronic “election fraud” nonsense that also led to the carnage and rage yesterday.
