If that’s the case, put the onus on senate republicans, and dare them to call it “just another political witch hunt”

I think that one of the most important objectives of the impeachment process is identifying which Republicans put party before country, on the record. We already have one point of calibration. Now we’re headed towards the second.

That doesn't accomplish anything. And a lot of people are going to roll their eyes at an impeachment this late.

Vote to censure, state in the censure that the actions are impeachable to set precedent, they'll get more Rs on board, they won't alienate as many people - it's the best solution at this time. Maybe not the most ideal - but best.

It accomplishes one important thing, it ensures that trump can not run for federal office again. The R's will spend the next four years whitewashing the most despicable abuse of power our country has seen in our lifetime and the part they played in it. We know how susceptible many are to their propaganda apparatus. Let's not mince words and pretend this is just a difference of opinions.

Reality is not an opinion.

Truth is not an opinion.

The RNC just brought Ronna McDaniel back as their leader and they vowed support for trump yesterday. trump should not have a public bullhorn to foment violence and insurrection again and he should be legally banned from any access to Federal power again. He is responsible for 5 deaths at this point and has demonstrated he is unhinged.

He needs to be impeached as a safeguard to our society. Felons lose their right to own guns. Insurrectionists should lose their right to run for federal office again.

He should be impeached and they should invoke the 14th against him too.

You have to hold the instigator of the insurrection accountable. Set an example America that clearly says this is unacceptable and should never happen again.

Impeach Trump. Charge him. He should never be allowed to run for office again.

Force the conspiracy-led anti-Democratic senators that willingly went against our Constitution to resign. Hawley, Cruz, etc.

End the circus once and for all.

The ONLY positive for this fucked up attempted coup is that Trump has.....and will continue...to nose fuck the GOP for many years to come.

No, disagree. Trying to set precedent by getting everything you want will result in total failure, which will in turn set the exact wrong precedent.

Well folks, here is an example of how getting paid for, speaking for, and constantly defending our current President, works out for you.

And it’s not just this (which is 100% correct).

The House needed to impeach Trump last Thursday. Why? And why is time critical even when the Senate doesn’t have to do anything with it on a timeline that is meaningful?

One, because at least then you’re delegitimizing his C-in-C authority to a degree. Giving generals additional cover for not carrying out orders that are illegal or that constitute abuse of power.

Two, and this is really fucking important and causes my throat to lump up: it is *critical* that the Senate has conviction-and-removal-ready paperwork on their desks if and when Trump does whatever is coming next. Any sort of delay could have grave consequences.

I don’t know where to put this. But this is the FIRST time Arnold has had my attention for 7 minutes. He absolutely nails it.
