If Trump had anyone around who actually cared about him, that person (I don’t know, a wife or son or daughter?) would tell him that his position is quite perilous, and that he needs to distance from the bullshit as soon as possible, not embrace it.

With respect to the impeachment trial, all but a small handful of Republican senators WANT plausible cover for voting not to convict. Trotting Rudy out there will not give them that.

I used to think those were dumb unrealistic lyrics, but now I just think there's a large portion of the population who will believe any lie or denial if you just stick to it ans say it often enough.
