California may have a lot of "revenue", but you all don't seem to understand that there's a lot more than just revenue to consider (you're just focusing on the part, not the whole). California is in levels of debt that it will never pay off, just like Illinois and anywhere else where democrats and unions killed the state. Taxes are extremely high, second only to DC (another shithole). Why do you think Tesla left to move to Texas? More and more companies are going to flee to places like Florida and Texas where the states are business friendly. Eventually, California will become like Detroit if it continues down this path.

Also, their pension program is toast. Did you see the news that stated California needed a bailout just to keep their government funded obligations? Bailout or no bailout, the pensions are going to be gone.

I’ve been hearing this doom-and-gloom for California for years. They said auto emissions standards would be the end of the automobile industry. It wasn’t. They said that ban on indoor smoking in bars and restaurants would be the end of bars and restaurants. The opposite turned out to be the case. Counterintuitively, tax revenues in California have been higher than projected due to the successes of the tech industry!

This one is also outdated, but it shows California, Colorado, New Jersey and Illinois are all in bad shape. 2017 data shows this, but it's become much worse in these states since then.
