$600
Re: $600
Those two things have tangible aspects to the argument. Corporate tax loopholes and bail out monies paid to corporations seem to be harder for people to grasp because they cant see it in their daily lives (if they lookes they could but outta sight outta mind)
Just Ledoux it

Not on Reddit.
You make a good point about “tangible aspects,” but again, I just don’t know why common men hate other common men without ever taking a stand against the folks who are really screwing us over.
I think a big part of it is some certain reverence for the rich. “Millionaire” has some panache, as if they’re so much more than just greedy.

I'm not a fan of the 2000 given that the extra unemployment insurance was in the bill and the vaccine is here...
But fuck every person who is against this that said nothing when the estate tax base was raised in 2017, giving millions to people that were already millionaires and didn't work for that money.

Meanwhile the PPP loans will not be taxed as income by the Feds and some States if the loan is forgiven, it is just billion$ of pennies from heaven!
And we can deduct expenses paid with PPP money. Still waiting for the final word on whether or not ours is forgiven, but the air smells like dividends right now.
Oh, but yeah, $2000 checks for everyone else is not right. Free money to people is socialism.

Re: $600
something i’m legitimately bothered by with this new covid relief bill is the permanent payment that those with children now get
if you can’t afford kids, don’t fucking have them
i get the temporary help due to covid and lost jobs, but to be permanently handing out money to people that are having kids they can’t afford to support isn’t something i want my tax dollars supporting

You didn't lose your head. This is really happening, while people are more concerned about gender pronouns and systemic racism.TDub wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 3:24 pm Artificially low interests rates. Artificially high market prices. Huge debt, increasing debt ratio, decreasing real dollar value. Not a good recipe for economic health and sustainable economic growth. The cards will tumble at some point. They, unfortunately, will tumble on the backs of the shrinking middle class.

I am indifferent on it (i understand the positives and negatives), but it is being abused. The golf course i belong to has employees (cart boys and bartenders) choosing to work OFF the clock for FREE so that they can stay on unemployment because they make way more money that way.
How widespread is the abuse? I have no idea.
