COVID-19 - On the Ground
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Another one.
"Health worker hospitalised after reaction to COVID vaccine"

And here's a most obvious example of the media lying. "No link" they say. I think it's pretty obvious when someone dies 15 minutes after receiving it.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Yes, some people have allergic reactions to the vaccine. She was treated for it, and recovered.
If someone has a history of allergies to the ingredients in the vaccine, they shouldn't take it. If they have a history of severe allergic reactions they might consider not taking it. But, for everyone else, there's a low risk of allergic reaction, but that's why they make you stay to be observed and they can easily and successfully treat you if that's the case.
You didn't provide a link to the second one, just a headline.

From the article, you wisely didn't link to:
https://abc7.com/woman-dies-after-getti ... /10337617/"Her cause of death has not been determined; however, there were no signs or symptoms of a severe allergic or anaphylactic reaction," Morris said in the statement.
The woman's family says she had a history of heart-related illness. Her husband of 57 years also received the vaccination and is still urging people to get the vaccine, adding that he intends to get his second dose in a few weeks.

your image isn’t even from that link, which if you’d cared to actually read you would have seen that the woman had a history on anaphylaxis...aka she was already immunocompromised
she recovered just fine
side effects are normal, and to be expected
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
lobster, if you don’t want to get a vaccine, don’t get one
pretty simple

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Wally/lobs - here’s a question for you. Are you outraged by the death(s) you attribute ostensibly to vaccine, and want the vaccinations to discontinue? Are you similarly outraged by other causes of death with a much more reliable attributable cause? Gun violence for example?? What are you doing about that? As one wag put it, one of the positive outcomes of school closings due to COVID-19 is no school shootings!
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Called my Internist's office today. Northwestern is going to send me a message next week and it looks like I will be able to book an appointment for my first shot within the next month. The nurse at the doctor's office told me that of course if I want to try and get the vaccine through a different source - to go ahead and do as such. I explained my concerns and she agreed that they are legitimate.
Forgetting all that, I want to know how many "seniors" have been offered the vaccine through Northwestern and how many declined. I don't personally know of a single senior who has not wanted the vaccine. I have to assume there are some.

Since that is one of the rare times someone here asked some fair questions, I will answer.zsn wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 1:00 pm Wally/lobs - here’s a question for you. I just don't want to see people die when they don't need to. What I want is for the news and government to be honest about the vaccine -- it is definitely not safe for everyone and lethal to some. What you are seeing now is the same old lies from the media and our government just so they can try to force everyone to take the vax.
Your second question is more tricky. Gun violence is a problem, and I can't deny that. I am angry when I see that people are shot for whatever reason in a church. I was very angry when I saw David Dorn (a black police officer) shot and murdered in St. Louis by another BLM/Antifa person. Other blacks were killed by gun violence in the riots of last year too. The problem with trying to stop gun violence is that the gun is just one way to kill people. If you ban guns, people can find other weapons (a bat, knife, etc.). At some point, you realize this is more of a people problem, not an object problem. I'm not for banning guns, because they can be good for self defense or hunting, but I would be in favor of banning automatic weapons that really serve no purpose in our day to day lives.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
But can you admit its wise for a large percentage of the country to get the vaccine?

2 - If you want to be taken seriously, you should introduce serious, vetted, scientific evidence. Anecdotal/circumstantial just doesn't cut it (and makes you look silly).
3 - But, a particularly effective way to do it, a lot of times at once.
4 - Herd immunity for gun violence?
5 - Except for an extraordinarily small sliver of society, guns serve no purpose in our everyday lives. And I have several of them! In a safe, in my basement, with the ammo locked up separately.

* Says the guy who was hoarding PPE when there were MANY people in THIS country in dire need of PPE including but not limited to healthcare workers.
"What I want is for the news and government to be honest about the vaccine".
* Brownie points for you! Except I don't like when people say "the news" in the context in which they do. To me, "news" is sort of an inanimate object.
I don't use enough news sources to pass judgement on what "the news" as a whole is (and isn't) honest about in terms of the vaccine but I have to assume the majority of "the news" is positive in terms of the purpose of the vaccine. As far as our Government, again I admit my ignorance. I don't know what the Government is and isn't saying in regards to the vaccine.
"it is definitely not safe for everyone and lethal to some".
* "definitely" lethal to some? Perhaps but I find it interesting when people minimize the affects of Covid but then choose to maximize the POSSIBLE (but not definitive) affects of the vaccine.
"What you are seeing now is the same old lies from the media and our government just so they can try to force everyone to take the vax".
* I don't know what the "same old lies" are. My hope is that the media and government would encourage every American to get the vaccine - but not to "FORCE" anyone.
"I was very angry when I saw David Dorn (a black police officer) shot and murdered in St. Louis by another BLM/Antifa person".
* I am confused. What do you mean "ANOTHER" BLM/Antifa person? Was Dorn a BLM/Antifa person?
Do you know for a fact that Stephan Cannon (the person who allegedly killed him) was a "member" of BLM/Antifa? Which by the way, BLM and Antifa are two very different "entities". Why group them together in regards to who killed Dorn?
"The problem with trying to stop gun violence is that the gun is just one way to kill people".
* That's "the problem" with trying to stop gun violence? As Plano would say - "JFC"!
Bad analogy but it's kind of like saying let's not try to eradicate Covid because there are other viruses and diseases that can kill people.
"If you ban guns, people can find other weapons (a bat, knife, etc.)".
* Sure people can find other weapons - that have other useful purposes.
The sole purpose of using a gun is to put a bullet in to someone/something. It's a lot easier to kill multiple people in a very short period of time with a gun than is it with a bat or a knife. True or false?
"At some point, you realize this is more of a people problem, not an object problem".
* Yes, it takes a person to use a gun but the object is in fact part of the problem. No gun, no one gets shot. Pretty simple concept.
"I'm not for banning guns, because they can be good for self defense or hunting, but I would be in favor of banning automatic weapons that really serve no purpose in our day to day lives".
* I'm not for banning guns either - for those who don't use them to kill innocent people and who truly NEED them.
I would guesstimate that 90% (or more) of gun shot victims were shot by people who did not NEED to own their guns.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
the only person being dishonest about the vaccine is posting in this thread
the “news”, or at least the news i consume is reporting the efficacy and safety information from the vaccine manufacturers, and the opinions of vaccine specialists and epidemiologists
you know...people that are actually well-versed in such things
the conspiratorial thinking that medical professionals, the government, vaccine manufacturers, and the media are all out to get you is silly and sad
lobs should be better than that, everyone should...but alas...

99.4% survive fine without a vaccine.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Despite the fact that, I dunno, 99.5% of people aren't having adverse effects and 99.99999% of people aren't dying from it?
Can you admit that there is a very small amount, under .001% of people vaccinated, that are dying from them ( even though there is no direct proof, let's just try and find a number in your head )?
