This team...
This team...
I hesitate to post this, since Front-Butt will be here in a minute to explain why the players are different, and the game-play is different, and the coaches' approach is different, and other pointless things that prove that he misses every point ever made...
But so far, this is 2016-2017 all over again: we wait until 20-35 minutes into the game to start giving a shit.

Totally bizarre team this year. We really arent playing much like a cohesive team at all yet. Hopefully we figure it out. The weirdest thing to me is that we would be screwed without Dedric but I also think he is a huge ball stopper who is preventing our whole team from functioning as a well oiled machine.
Weird team this year. So much potential but right now they are just a weird mix of dudes.

Ironically, I agree.
Dedric's numbers are hard to argue with, but he doesn't do it for me.

Re: This team...
At least Perry Ellis is no longer the highest scoring player from below the rim in recent KU history.

5th consecutive game that we have trailed by at least 8.

Re: This team...
Dedric is playing like Perry Ellis right now. Which we all know the result of. Lots of numbers, but not really making the team or others better from it. Dedric needs to be facilitating better. Perry never had an Udoka underneath. We should be dominating inside like never before. Make a move to the paint. If something gets in your way, throw it up.
I am, I said.
Re: This team...
Perry Ellis was quicker then Dedric but not as crafty. Dedric is just so slow I am amazed Everytime he scores.
Re: This team...
Dedric is getting buckets when no one else can score though.
I think he’s a big help offensively-he’s not an asset defensively.

Best line about Dedric "...he will still be the first selection in pick-up games at the Y 35 years from now..."

If you ask me Dok is our problem. He has regressed as a Junior. Can’t guard without fouling, can’t shokt free throws, can’t coexist with Dedric. We play better when he’s on the bench.

We look best with Dok on the floor. Not sure what you're watching.
He needs to stop fouling.

Re: This team...
I just don’t like our offense. Haven’t all year.
Why not bring Udoka off the bench? Plays against the 2nd line for a change of pace and maybe he could stay on the floor at the end of the half when fatigue is setting in.

I agree with the Dok problem (which is a good problem to have).
This team has been so use to playing in a certain way with guards leading the action. Frank, Dtae, etc. Early on it seemed like KU was trying to run the offense through Dok which he isn’t that guy yet.

Bill runs some nice sets and plays for Doke, but it’s an overall better flow without him. Game is just passing him by.holidaysmore wrote: ↑Sun Dec 02, 2018 10:09 am I agree with the Dok problem (which is a good problem to have).

By March, We’re just as good, maybe better with Silvio swapped for Udoka.

Re: This team...
Grimes is the biggest issue right now. His lack of offense and poor defense is making HCBS play more minutes of Marcus Garrett, who after hours of work has not developed his shooting touch. I like Marcus and still think he will have a great Jayhawk career. But we need more scoring from the backcourt. Without the ball in his hands and driving toward the bucket, Marcus isn't a threat. Here is the good news, I think a switch will flip for Grimes.
