I'm a tad confused why Ohio State continues to be looked at as a 2-seed; they've lost 4 games in a row and yes, I realize the level of competition, but still...

Future article from Jeff Goodman/Pat Forde:

3 Kansas v 14 Blahblah/4 Kansas v 13 Blahblah

This is not your typical Bill Self team, finishing second in the Big 12, and not featuring an alpha, like Udoka Azubuike or Devon Dotson from last year's overall number one seed. Kansas struggles to score, as shown in their regular season finale against ( xx-12 ) UTEP, where they had 20 points at half time and trailed the Miners by 14 points. In fact, the last time Kansas scored fewer than 74 points per game ( 144th overall ) was in 2014-15, where the Jayhawks were upset in the second round. On top of that, forward David McCormack, the Jayhawks most effective scorer, was sidelined with COVID only a week ago, forcing him to miss the Big 12 tournament.

Blahblah hasn't won against a caliber team like Kansas yet this season but did beat meh in December holding them to under yy points. Their coach mr.meh teaches sound fundamental defense and if Kansas struggles to score early, blahblah could provide the first big upset of 2021.

Many (most?) people think Michigan will win the Big 10 Tournament. If somehow tOSU found a way to win it and beat two of either Michigan, Illinois, and/or Iowa to do it , I very well might feel they are deserving of a 2. Hard for me to say if I believe they are one of the 8 best teams in the country today. I can't say definitively that I believe they are - or are not.

JoeyBrackets has moved us up.
3 seed.
In fact, 3 of the 4 3 seeds are B12 teams.

Still playing 14 seeded toothpaste.
6 USC/11 Wichita State.
2 Bama/1 Illinois.

But he also has Virginia as an automatic qualifier, implying they'd win the ACC tourney.
They do that and they will be at least a 3.

If TODAY you had to choose between getting Gonzaga at 6-1 (I believe they are currently about 2.5 - 1) odds to win the tournament on a $50 (to win $300) bet OR you could have the field at even money on a $50 bet (to win $50). Which would you choose?

I think the Zags are the best team in college.
It's a tough format for the best team to always win.
So, i'd take the even money field.

Baylor's best is better than Gonzaga's best.

I'd bet on neither coach.

Weird tournament, though.

I don't think Baylor's best is better than Gonzaga's best.
Zags beat no. 6 KU, no. 11 WVU, no. 3 Iowa, no. 16 Virginia.
They haven't lost.

And they have a possible no. 1 overall NBA pick and two other guys who could/should go 1st round.
Those same three guys should make at least 2nd team All American.

I too think Baylor's best beats Gonzaga's best. And Baylor beat Illinois, and swept all ranked teams in Big 12 outside of KU.

We really got robbed of the Baylor/Gonzaga matchup that was supposed to happen in early December, I believe.

Zags strength of schedule is similar to Baylor's according to Kenpom ( 93 v 81 ).
They have the no. 1 scoring offense.
They are shooting 55% from the field.

And they beat the team that Baylor lost to.
Don't see the argument.

If we are arguing that Gonzaga's opponents have been easier than Baylor's in 2021, that's a no brainer.
I think the Zags firing on all cylinders ( Suggs, Kispert, Timme ) is a more dangerous team than Baylor.

You think Kansas on February 27th was the same Kansas that played in late November..?

Ok then.

I saw a Tweet earlier today that Kansas was something like #7 in who has improved their NET the most in the last 30 days.

They beat the same roster Baylor lost to. I wouldn't say they beat the same team.

KU had 2 guys play double figure minutes who are now getting DNP-CDs, and one of the first guys off the bench now played like 2 minutes. Gonzaga has kept the same 7 man rotation all year. I would still take the Zags in a rematch, but it won't be nearly the beatdown it was in November.

Baylor's calling card is defense, Gonzaga's is offense. I would trust Baylor's defense in a close, grind it out game over Gonzaga's offense against another elite team.

Yeah, first game of the year is a throwaway.

We were within 12, so figure eliminate a few of the first game bonehead turnovers and such, woulda been a tossup.

If we played them in January, we woulda prob lost by 40.

If we play each other again now, bring it on.

Gonzaga is so much more balanced. AA PG, AA wing, AA big.

Baylor has some really good guards and a fat ass who hustles and somehow avoids getting called for his fouls.
I only came to kick some ass...

Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

But if Baylor's calling card is defense, and Gonzaga's adjD is ranked higher than Baylor's ( and no, it's not a foot down absolute - but something to consider ), then there's an issue.
