Totally random thread
Re: Totally random thread
7 am weekdays.
9 am weekends.
9 am weekends.
Re: Totally random thread
I had a new roof put on my house last summer. They started on a Friday afternoon and worked until 9pm. I woke up Saturday morning at 7am to banging on the roof. The same guys were back by 6:30am. I was like WTF. Felt bad for my neighbors but not much I could do.
Re: Totally random thread
the work week isn’t the same for everyone
i’m fine with 7am everyday

Re: Totally random thread
Do you mow at 7am on a Sunday? Lol. I normally wait until 9 on weekends if I'm doing something noisy outside like mowing, cutting deck boards, pressure washing, etc. Of course I live in Brookside, so the houses are right next to each other.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 9:48 am the work week isn’t the same for everyone

Re: Totally random thread
The guys doing the work dont wanna work 9 to 6 and get home at 7 on saturday. If you start at 6:30 you can be home at 4 and still have a life.shindig wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 9:42 am I had a new roof put on my house last summer. Re: Totally random thread
I mow whenever im ready to mow ha. Were pretty spaced out here but my closest neighbor starts his diesel truck betweem 4 and 430 every day. I think people complain too much in generalshindig wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 9:54 amDo you mow at 7am on a Sunday? Lol. Re: Totally random thread
I agree, I wasn't complaining. They did an awesome job and cleaned up the best I had ever imagined. My neighbor used a different roofing company a few years ago and they really pissed me off. They basically finished up, got a leaf blower out and blew wood and shingle parts into my front yard, plus nails, that were on her driveway. I called them and bitched to the owner and they finally came back a few days later and cleaned my yard up.

Re: Totally random thread
You guys are making some good arguments for HOAs.
I only came to kick some ass...

Re: Totally random thread
My HOA wouldn't let me leave a small sign for the roofing company who did our house up for even a day. Bitched about it an hour into it being in the yard. They did a great job, so I was on-board with having it up a few days. But man. Meanwhile, a Trump flag and sign around the corner are still polluting the world. People are afraid to call them out because they are demonstrably crazy.
Re: Totally random thread
I don't buy this argument. If hours worked are the same you just shift your schedule.TDub wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 10:27 amThe guys doing the work dont wanna work 9 to 6 and get home at 7 on saturday. If you work at 6 it means you get up at five which means you go to bed at 9...which is 5 hours after getting home. If you start work at 9 you get to sleep until 8, which means you don't go to bed until 12, which is 5 hours after getting home. Same amount of time.

Re: Totally random thread
Having done both, i much prefer the earlier shift. When you get done there is still daylight and afternoon left. I dont want to sleep in, and im a morning person so i much prefer bwing up early and working as opposed to gwtting up late. Im up at 5 no matter what so if i can work and get home earlier why wouldn't I want to?PhDhawk wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 12:25 pmI don't buy this argument. Re: Totally random thread
Plus, in the summer it is MUCH more productive to work when its 70 at 6 am as opposed to starting when its already 90+

Re: Totally random thread
My framer started at 6:00 a.m. every morning last summer . . . in old West Lawrence. Not one complaint from any of the neighbors.
Re: Totally random thread
That is always my goal when working on a project outside in the summer on the weekend, but my lazy, non-morning ass lays in bed reading Kansas Crimson threads. Then I get up grudgingly, make coffee, spend more time on my iPad, take my boxer for a walk, then go out at 11 am and complain about sweating bullets and say fvck it, its too hot for this BS...lol
Re: Totally random thread
I miss those early summer mornings, getting up at daybreak and knocking off by the time it gets hot.
But I also found a certain novelty to having a cooler full of ice cold Gatorades and smashing them at like 1 bottle per hour yet never having to pee.

Re: Totally random thread
Most, not all, have work during the week. And have Saturday and Sunday off. Those days are typically considered rest days and that's why a lot if communities have noise ordinances.
Re: Totally random thread
Its also the only time you have to accomplish anything at home if you work a different job all week

Re: Totally random thread
I wouldn't call anyone to complain but if my neighbor was running a chainsaw at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning I'm going to ask him not to.
It also depends on the distance you have from your neighbors.
