Maybe the whole "one crazy day then one chalky day" will hold and KU can hold serve tomorrow.

Ugh.
Gonzaga is the best team, but other than BYU, the Zags haven't been tested much; it'll be interesting to see how they handle a grind-it-out sort of game...better teams have folded in March.

Tested?

Beat Kansas. Beat West Va. Beat Iowa. Smoked Virginia. Destroyed Auburn.

They beat every P5 team by double digits, except for West Va.

They’re damn good. They can beat you inside or out. They’re one of the best teams we’ve seen in college basketball in the last decade. And he’s, throw last years Kansas team into that mix.

One of these teams is making a final 4.

Loyola
Oregon State
Cuse
Houston

Not what I expected from that bracket.

The discrediting Mark Few and Gonzaga on this bored is a bit ridiculous.
Their team is stacked.

Sorry, I meant they haven't been tested much the last couple of months; the WCC isn't the best competition.

Other than WVU, back in December, they've killed everyone they've played for the most part...well, what happens when there's 3 minutes left in a game and they're down by 10 or up by 1 with 30 seconds left? They haven't had those situations to deal with this year.

Self wanted him there by 8:30 or 9 to be able to attend practice at 11:30.

What Bill wants, Bill gets.

This is so good.

I Alone Can Get Oral Roberts University To The Final Four, But My Flock Can Help

https://defector.com/i-alone-can-get-or ... -can-help/
I speak now to the Oral Roberts University faculty, staff, students, boosters, and fans who have wished for their evangelical university to achieve athletic glory: Brothers and sisters, I bring good tidings. Last night, as I slept, I was visited by the lord God himself, Jesus Christ, just as the founder of your proud university was many times before. As he stood at the foot of my bed, resplendent in all his glory, our savior delivered unto me a message. He said to me, in a voice that sounded of the sweetest birdsong, that the mighty Golden Eagles will reach the Final Four of the 2021 NCAA men’s tournament, but only if I am able to raise $5 million.

[...]

Anyway, the point is that I am but a humble servant, just as Oral Roberts was, and I am simply trying to do what my lord asks of me. He has given us a great opportunity, and it would be a shame to turn away from his light now, when the Golden Eagles have already come so far. My Venmo is @Tom-Ley. We have until Saturday to raise that $5 million and punch our ticket to the Final Four. Once we do that, I’ll have another chat with Jesus about what needs to be done to make sure the Golden Eagles take home the national title.

Is there any evidence supporting the general claim that NCAA Tournament success is dependent upon having good competition in the 2 months that proceed the tournament?

I mean, Kentucky's been pretty successful and the SEC has been a trash conference for most of it's existence.

Probably some correlation, but it would be flawed.

The best teams and programs tend to be in the biggest conferences with the most resources. They go to the Final Four way more than mid-majors and a true mid-major hasn't won the whole thing since '85 Nova? Is it their competition/conference or is it just because they are really good teams/programs? I would think the latter.

I think it's the opposite. Big 10, ACC, Big 12, when good, really beats down the teams. Every game is a battle in the Big 10, and wears out the players. SEC and Pac 12 are good examples of some good teams, some cakewalks, and it can put a team in a good position.

2013-2014 Tournament was won by an American Athletic Conference (8th in RPI) team. The West Coast Conference was 9th in RPI.

I don't think so. I mean, they played fellow Big East team and #1 ranked Georgetown in the final. St. John's was a power and so was Syracuse.
