NCAA Tournament 2021
Re: NCAA Tournament 2021
So KU has the 2nd place PAC12 team followed by the 1st place PAC12 team.

Just depends on if you see seeding as the reward for the resume you built or a ranking of teams in ability from 1-68. They seem to be trying to get away from the predictive measures and more towards concrete data supported measurements so I'd suspect that this will be more the norm moving forward.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 1:11 pmWhat is clear is that this tournament was very mis-seeded, but I'll give the committee a pass on that just this once.
I don't think the giant piles of upsets will be as large once elite teams are able to practice like normal. COVID leveled the field big time this year.

Nature of the tournament mixed with a wonky season.

Just not enough data. Like, what are you supposed to do with Loyola? Committee did its best. KenPom chart has been quite lively since Friday.twocoach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 1:24 pmJust depends on if you see seeding as the reward for the resume you built or a ranking of teams in ability from 1-68. The process now is so much better than when it was based on RPI.

Reaves is a gamer.

If OU had Harmon they might stand a chance today.

I don't care who beats Gonzaga, just don't want them to go undefeated. Not hating on them, just don't want any team to do it, unless it is KU.

Excuse me, what?
Gonzaga Outgrew Its Crystal Slipper. Now It’s the Best Program in College Hoops.
Once seen as a lovable underdog, Gonzaga has transformed into college basketball’s model program. Is this the NCAA tournament the Zags finally win it all?

Re: NCAA Tournament 2021
MICHIGAN STATE WAS AN 11-SEED! WE WERE A 3-SEED!It might seem like Gonzaga is benefitting from a strange year in college hoops. Some of the best players in the 2020 recruiting class bypassed college entirely to play in the G League. Duke and Kentucky missed out on the NCAA tournament for the first time in forever; other powerhouses like Kansas and Michigan State are having down years as well. But maybe Gonzaga isn’t simply benefiting from the shortcomings of the traditional blue bloods. With star prospects like Suggs picking them over these schools, the Zags are also contributing to the changing power dynamic of the sport.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2021
Not sure if this has been talked about or not, but Reaves was all but booted from WSU because it was found out that he was having a strictly physical relationship with Gregg Marshall's daughter. More to it than that, but that's the meat of it.
Re: NCAA Tournament 2021
How did we get dragged into that trope but UNC, who was an 8 seed and also lost their opening round game, has managed to avoid it?jfish26 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 22, 2021 1:59 pmMICHIGAN STATE WAS AN 11-SEED! At this point, I don't even know what team would match up well against Gonzaga? Like Loyola Chicago?

Suggs gets away with an offensive foul and possible flagrant.
