If I stopped giving my money to every company that employs at least one idiot then I wouldn't be able to buy anything.

While I agree and there is really no way to know a pilot's personality without having a candid conversation with him/her........

A) There is a BIG difference between having someone get your order wrong at McDonalds a person flying an airplane (that you are on) who has a lot of anger - and is possibly intoxicated.
Of course in this case the pilot just so happened to be a Southwest pilot. I have to assume there are probably other assholes flying planes for other airlines too.
B) As you said, there are idiots in all professions but if I have/had a choice of choosing someone who is literally responsible for my safety/well-being/life, I am going to choose someone who I feel is NOT a fucking idiot. Not that anyone on that flight really had a choice of pilots but my hope is if they did - many would not have chosen that guy.
C) I have a close friend who's father is a former Navy pilot and is now a pilot for American Airlines and has told me what it's "like" to fly a commercial aircraft. Granted, it's possible to "chew gum" and fly an airplane at the same time, I still prefer when my pilot is more concerned with flying an aircraft than going off on angry rants about things that have nothing to do with flying the plane I am on.
D) I feel Southwest's statement was somewhat asinine when they said, "this not representative of the nearly 60,000 hardworking, respectful people of Southwest Airlines.”
Of course it's "representative". One of their "representatives" was the reason why they needed to make a statement and defend the other 60,000 Southwest employees.
E) Southwest has too many other reasons for me to choose not to fly their airline.

A) It is an assumption that the person might be intoxicated or have anger issues. He just sounds like an Trumpy asshole to me.
B) You aren't choosing someone who isn't an idiot unless you are interviewing the pilot prior to your flight. You're just choosing someone who you don't know for sure is an idiot.
C) My brother in law flew long overseas flights for Continental after his stint in the military. I ask him not to tell stories around my wife because she is a nervous flyer. Hearing stories about pilots putting their feet up and sleeping off their hangovers wouldn't make it easier for her to fly. It sounds to me that it would safe to assume that out of ten flights, you'll have at least one idiot pilot.
D) Does it represent all of the KU fan base when any one KU fans goes off on a loony rant? No.
E) I love that we live in a country where we have the option to choose such things.

A) Yes, it is/was an assumption but to me, clearly the guy sounds angry.
B) Exactly. Pretty much what I had stated.
C) He has told me a few "candid" things I pretty much didn't want/need to hear but nothing TOO incriminating.
D) It may not represent the KU "base" per se but that person is representing KU.
E) Me too.

If a business has more than 4 employees, the probability of one of them being an asshole is pretty high.

I don't like the Bay Area or every single person I've met from the Bay area who won't shut up about the bay area.

I also, hate rednecks who drive unnecessarily large sooped up diesel trucks.

So, you can imagine the pickle I'm in here.

SWA is my go-to airline. Allegiant is a very distant 2nd. The rest, United, Delta, American can kick rocks.

The 3 legacy carriers are pretty frustrating and have much less value than SWA if you live outside a hub.

I live in KC and always have Companion Pass. It would take a seismic shift for any other carrier to become anything more than an emergency/weird-destination-only option.

I’m sorry you feel that way about me.

I feel that way (mostly) about Texas and the Slave States.

I agree that it is unfair to hang this on SWA, although the final verdict would depend on “dealing with it internally” entails. Termination of the employee would be justified because I’m sure that there’s a clause in the employment contract which says that the employee would represent the values of the employee while performing duties of employment. Also there’s the “sterile cockpit” regulation

So, one of the reasons that Gutter won't fly SWA is because he suspected all along that they had a racist a-hole pilot lurking in their ranks?

Seems legit.
