Supervisor says the hold on Floyd should have been released at least 5 minutes before chauvin did, that he should have let up the moment Floyd was cuffed and complaint

I don't think anyone believes using his knee was a smart thing to do. The problem lies with the fact that the department trained them this way. The chief was also not white, so this wasn't racist training. Brutal training? Sure. If I had to predict what will happen, Chauvin gets manslaughter, and the rest get off.

Chauvin’s supervisor says the policy cops are trained to do is to lay a restrained person on their side in the “hobble position,” so they can breathe easier without complications, even if officers still have to put their weight on the guy

Maybe that's what they say now, but their past shows a different picture...

Chauvin knew Floyd was dying. He fucking knew.

The problem is, a picture is worth a thousand words. And besides, Floyd was not the only person to die from this training. No one is arguing that the training was the correct approach, but it wasn't anything new at the time. I'm glad to see them overhaul the way they do things -- it's been long overdue. Police brutality has been a real issue.

I saw one op-ed somewhere the other day that suggested one of the ways to most effectively reform policing is to hold the police responsible for paying settlements. Make it come out of their own budgets, rather than making taxpayers foot the bill.

I know you are the resident expert on all things. But let me share a whole shit ton of training and real world experience.

Numerous techniques for take down and restraint exist AND are accepted as safe.
Some are indeed uncomfortable, even painful to the recipient.

Nothing, and let me be perfectly clear here, NOTHING is an acceptable restraint for an offender who is under control and in restraints. That has never NOT been the case.

Never said I was resident expert on all things. Some things, yes. Am I an expert on KU basketball? Not really. Am I an expert on cooking? No.

I know you work in some kind of security job (or similar) right? I want to be perfectly clear when I say I do not condone putting a knee on someone's neck. I think it's a stupid way to handle that situation. My points are not based on that at all. My points have to do with the problems of the training and also that racism doesn't appear to have played a part in it.

Yeah, I was a security guard at Radio Shack.

And, your ignorance on all subjects should clear you of pretending that racism isn't playing a huge part in these crimes.
