Agree, keep incentivizing.
The supply is there, so it's easier than ever to get it.
Ready for somewhat normalcy across the country by July. Notice how I didn't say the world, because everyone else has their shit together.

Right. You're just never going to get it sold to the needed number of people with the "you still need to wear a mask" warning.NewtonHawk11 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:13 pmSo many I know who were anti-vax are now getting the shot because of the general good things heard about it and the more consistent findings by CDC and other organizations.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:09 pm I read that covid vax hesitancy is dropping now that so many have received it and CDC is saying how much you can do after getting it.

Which I find shocking, How is the benefit of eating in a restaurant, attending movies, concerts, and sporting events live, and traveling freely again not incentive enough?jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:15 pmRight. Yeah. But, if that's what it takes, so be it.PhDhawk wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:49 pmWhich I find shocking, How is the benefit of eating in a restaurant, attending movies, concerts, and sporting events live, and traveling freely again not incentive enough?jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 12:15 pmRight. I strongly suspect that the math is that the benefit from the delta in vax adoption rate would vastly outweigh (in macro-level impact) the harm from vaccinated people tossing out their masks.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
after I am fully vaccinated i do not want to wear a mask anymore. If getting fully vaccinated isn't the end game of the mask, what is?
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
I'll answer this sincerely.
Two things matter.
1. The daily rate of new infections
2. The overall percentage of people vaccinated.
#1. needs to be low, and #2 needs to be high. At that point, I don't see the necessity of wearing a mask.
I don't know what those numbers will be, though. #2 probably needs to be something like 65%+
And in Michigan right now #1 is almost as high as it's ever been.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
sad, how difficult that concept is for some to grasp
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
in the next 30-60 days any person that wants to get vaccinated, can get vaccinated. After that, all you have left are those people that do not/will not get the vaccine. Why would those that got the vaccine continue to wear the mask? Why?

Not that I necessarily disagree with that, but it says a lot about a person that gets completely emasculated by a piece of cloth.

...But there are certain settings—while riding a packed subway, for example, or when visiting a loved one in the hospital—where an extra layer of protection might make sense even after the pandemic era. Like COVID-19 itself, masks likely won’t be our constant reality, but they may not fade away completely, either...
...Reducing the amount of virus in shared environments is a crucial aspect of pandemic response. And because COVID-19 can be spread asymptomatically, meaning anyone could be unknowingly carrying the virus and passing it to others, everyone should be doing what they can to avoid spreading it.

Vaccine passports, masks during flu season, hand sanitizing stations--give me all of it.

If the daily infection rate remains high, and the % of unvaccinated remains low.
Encourage your friends and family to get vaccinated instead of saying stupid shit like how if you were younger you wouldn't get vaccinated.
I mean, if you want to not wear a mask, don't encourage the actions that encourage mask mandates.

I actually think this is one very-not-good thing that might come out of all this.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 1:25 pm Vaccine passports, masks during flu season, hand sanitizing stations--give me all of it.
The science has borne out that surface transmission of Covid is vanishingly low. Hand-washing is a good thing. Same with simple, alcohol-gel sanitizer.
But constant application of antibacterials, if I understand it correctly, encourages the development of antibacterial-resistant shit.

So I had thought most of the stuff being offered is just alcohol-gel sanitizer. At any rate, just encouraging better hygiene is where I'm at.jfish26 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 1:40 pmI actually think this is one very-not-good thing that might come out of all this.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 1:25 pm Vaccine passports, masks during flu season, hand sanitizing stations--give me all of it.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Yes, and wasn't criticizing you. I just think, on a macro level, we're not being very thoughtful about how much antibacterials we're using. Seems like everywhere you look now someone's making a buck on antibacterial tire pressure gauges or antibacterial salad dressing, whatever.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 1:44 pmSo I had thought most of the stuff being offered is just alcohol-gel sanitizer. Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
what’s funny, is that anti-bacterial isn’t the same as anti-viral

Yeah, and a lot of people died from those toxic sanitizers, but that's whole other story.
