I just saw an ad for a new teevee show called "Rebel". Some sort of pseudo cop show starring Peg Bundy starting soon on ABC.

Can't be good.

I felt the same way several years ago when I watched Earthlings.

Started watching "Them" on Amazon Prime, so far, very bizarre and a sad commentary on housing covenants that prevented blacks from moving into all white neighborhoods, especially in the early 1950's. But other just weird things happening you'll have to watch to understand (or not understand in my case).

Mrs. Fish has a commitment on Wednesday evenings, so I've been watching some "old" (to him, anyway) movies with the 13-year-old boy. Suggestions? Here's an idea of what we've done to date:

Unbreakable
Saving Private Ryan
American Pie (all)
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut
Deep Impact
The Matrix
Orange County

As you can see, (1) going for late-90s/early-2000s, and (2) he's really not drawn into sports movies.

At some point we need to do Scream. And Tombstone.

I don't have a kid, but have a SO that didn't grow up surrounded by American pop culture, and I think there is just a ton of movie references in today's movies, tv, news, conversations, workplace, etc.

So we've watched things like all of the gangster movies, the Tarantino's, the Chris Hughes films, the Christmas classics, older Rom-Coms like When Harry Met Sally/Princess Bride, etc., Forrest Gump, and then there are the horror films like The Shining or Silence of the Lambs.

Tangent, what does not hold up well today: The Todd Phillips-type stuff.

13 year old?
Wes Anderson's. Help the kid learn to question things.
