Yes.

Yes.

What was he supposed to do.....in your non existent, perfect paradise? What would YOU have done? As I said before......not even trying to be an asshole....early checkins bother you enough to vent about them, how do you think you would've handled a volatile interaction where you act quickly and take a life or dont act quickly and watch a life potentially get taken?

In stark contrast to other cop shootings...all indications are that, after the shots, the officers immeidately began medical care, called for an ambulance and attempted resuscitation efforts for the 6 minutes it took for paramedics to arrive.

oh I dunno, it's not like the cop had multiple nonlethal options right there on his belt or anything. taser. pepper spray. heck, work her over with the fucking billy club.

But instead, he took a situation that had the potential to be fatal, and made it a certainty. Again, I understand how it happened, but I still struggle to think it's any kind of a right option.

even if one of them had a knife, do you think the cop would have been so quick to blast if he pulled up to a neighborhood full of 16yo white girls?

Can you close that distance with a taser or a club before the knife can swing? Are you sure? Someones daughters life is on the line either way....you taking out the one attacking or risking watching it and telling their family you watched it.

I already answered that.

I think it is still a right option, but seems it is a really good time to reassess if it is the best option, with full respect for how crazy and quick those situations are for our LEO's.

I think we have seen enough throughout history that this is a legitimate question and understandable why someone would say "unequivocally, no."

Having a reassessment on police/citizen interactions, reform, etc. without talking about race being part of the equation is a complete nonstarter.

yeah, it's a good time to reassess.

the Chauvin verdict alllllmost felt like it could be some watershed moment. But within literal minutes, it was like the system was right back to normal.

Are you having a hard time understanding the difference between the two situations? It seems you are lumping then together which is utterly erroneous

no, I'm not sure, but I'm also not a cop. I would hope a LEO trained with presumably all sorts of weapons and tactics might be a little more prepared to deescalate a teenage girl, even with a knife. If they aren't, that's what we need to be reassessing.

Someones daughters life is on the line either way....you taking out the one attacking or risking watching it and telling their family you watched it.
and perhaps that's why I'm so upset! Someone's daughter's life WAS on the line either way! But I'm just not sure that's really how the cop approached the situation.

it it possible to understand the difference between two situations while also understanding the greater systemic pattern?

No. Most of the people in this thread lack the mental capacity to handle these kinds of thoughts.

I guess the police/peace officer, under the circumstances, had no other choice than to pump four pieces of deadly bullets into a 15 year-old girl.

It was said earlier. The peace officer had alternative means to subdue the climate. Deadly force was chosen. I think some of these officers WANT to shoot unruly blacks.

No one is saying that.
Or at least, I don't think people here are saying that.

She was using deadly force against the girl she was attempting to stab. Cop had to make a split second decision to save a life and possibly end a life.

Do you really though? Or do you just like to tell everyone on an anonymous messageboard how down with the movement you are?

All while likely doing NOTHING in real life to help the situation. That's what confuses the hell out of me.

So woke.

The 2 situations are not similar.

She wasn't walking down the street holding a knife during a riot. She called the cops, waited for them to get there, then came out with a knife and tried to attack the girls who came to attack her.

Now, we all recognize that had Rittenhouse been black there is a chance, in the instance you're referring to (him holding a gun with his hands up waking towards cop cars driving by him), that they may not have driven right by him. We get that. We all agree.
