Plano's Spring Vacation-Arizona

Post by Overlander »

So, in light of the fact that there are absolutely NO boats available to sell in 2021, Plano and his wife are taking a 2 week trip to explore ALL of Arizona.

Doing a full day in Tucson with my KU roommate.
Rented a Jeep for 2 full days in Sedona.
Headed to Tombstone and Bisbee for day.

I have been to the Grand Canyon a dozen times, spent 3 days on the Colorado River at both Havasu and Yuma last year...so those are out.

What else would folks that live there or visit there recommend?

I'd spend more time in Sedona. 3-4 days. Plenty of Native American ruins to explore, too.

I really like Lake Pleasant, but wouldn't want to drag a boat around for 2 weeks.

Petrified Forest is ok for an afternoon if you happen to be driving through.

Other than that, I pretty much just drink by the pool when there.

My only experience with AZ is Havasu so can’t be a ton of help.

We boated and camped right on the lake, which was cool. Hang by a fire with a line in the water, some monster catfish throughout the night.

The city itself is kinda weird - mostly old snowbirds driving around off road vehicles, cuz that’s a thing there.

I feel like I’m forgetting something...I’ll ask the buddy who lived there

I haven't seen these in person but a friend suggested we should visit.

i would say Havasupai, but not something you can do on short notice, unless you wanna pop for the helicopter ride

i’ve had family living the AZ almost my entire life, and on all my visits there’s no more beautiful part of the state that i’ve seen

Been there several times.

We are on Day 2 in Sedona, been off road Jeeping about 15 hours.

Tucson was great.

We Jeeped Schnebly Hill, that connects to Oak Creek. It is a Jeep rated Badge Of Honor Trail....badass. Those mountains are so much more impressive when you are directly under them.

My wife got her first wheel time on Soldiers Pass Trail. I am not sure I will ever get to drive my Jeep off road again. She loved it!

No doubt. I get the feel that Plano might end up retiring to the Catalina Foothills
