How about employers pay wages better than literal pandemic relief funds, and see how many folks are still lazy.

And considering how much in freeloading handouts the gummint has granted to businesses, I just dunno how anyone can vilify working class Mericans who are just trying to not get behind on rent.

But leave it to the temporarily embarrassed millionaire mich, and his crusade against the welfare queens.

If a bidness came out and said, “hey we’re raising prices on consumers so that we can pay more competitive wages to our employees,” would there really be a backlash?

Not as sad as you think. Why do you think the world should exist to take care of everybody.

can't blame everything on the fungus. those that want to work, work. those that don't, don't.
There is a lot of truth in that.

yeah, but if every company does this, and all prices go up, then your raise is meaningless, it's called inflation.

One part of the question is, what portion of a business’s wealth generated should go to the employees who helped to generate it?

Cuz thus far, don’t think anyone has suggested, hey maybe job creators could offer better wages, without even raising consumer prices either, if they didn’t keep so much of the spoils to themselves.

At my employer, at least, we went through months of meeting about how to attract and retain employees in positions without just offering better wages. After exhausting all other selling points, the owner begrudgingly agreed, though not once did he say he was reluctant to offer better wages cuz he couldn’t afford to.

Right, I hate it when you see that executives make like 10,000X more than the average employee. It's gross. And I don't think it makes much sense.

I think the CEO of a company should make significantly more than say an entry level cashier, but the disparity has been pushed way beyond the point it should be at.

I've said for a long time, I think the business world has ignored the baseball stat WAR. We credit CEO's with way too much. "This guy managed that $25 million merger! we can't afford to loose him" but if it's in a situation where an average executive would have done something similar, or perhaps even better, we're giving the sitting CEO too much credit.

Also, I think there's a fucked up notion about entry level employees being expendible, because "I can hire 10 more people to fill your spot by the end of the day." But I think what they miss in saying that is, yeah, you can easily replace one, but if you employ 1,000 entry level workers, you can't replace them all at once...there's value in numbers. The flip side of that is when hiring an executive, there aren't as many people capable of doing the job, but what has been ignored is you only need to find ONE person to do it.

Fuck, look at the KU football HC gig. It's a pile of shit job (as P5 HC gigs go) and we had a line of qualified candidates. I'm pretty sure the same holds for corporate America as well.

And you think the government should decide that? LOL

Don't work for companies that don't have business ethics you agree with.
