There's an estimated 550,000+ homeless in the US. $600 million works out to a little under $1,100 per person. Not sure what homeless situation you're fixing for $1,100 bucks but it's not permanent.

He is doing quite a bit for one thing he feels strongly about- owning libs, or trying hard. Very hard!

if only it was as simple as lazy stoners

https://www.wsj.com/articles/millions-a ... 1620302440

... Surveys suggest why some can’t or won’t go back to work. Millions of adults say they aren’t working for fear of getting or spreading Covid-19. Businesses are reopening ahead of schools, leaving some parents without child care. Many people are receiving more in unemployment benefits than they would earn in the available jobs. Some who are out of work don’t have the skills needed for jobs that are available or are unwilling to switch to a new career.
Hiring has been robust recently, despite the labor shortfall. U.S. employers added 916,000 jobs in March, according to the Labor Department, and economists project that the April jobs report, due out Friday, will show employers added 1 million more. Weekly unemployment claims fell to 498,000 last week, a new low since the pandemic began...

Maybe a silver lining to the pandemic will be that it stimulates wage growth, but it might also just be that employers play chicken with benefits running out, or personal economic concerns finally outweighing health or childcare or other concerns.

Here’s another thought I just saw. I haven’t researched or not familiar or whatever but:

What are we gonna do in like 40 years, when a whole generation with limited or no retirement savings opportunities is otherwise expect to retire?

... After the last downturn, Fed surveys showed employers grousing about worker shortages in 2012, when the unemployment rate was above 8%. When compensation began to rise in earnest several years later, workers flooded back to the labor market.
“What we saw was that labor supply generally showed up,” Fed Chair Jerome Powell said last month. “In other words, if you were worried about running out of workers, it seemed like we never did.”...
