They did it or tried in NC last cycle --- it's complete bullshit, but not really new.

Republicans: Party over country, again and again and again.
Where the GOP can’t win elections, it changes the rules
...Scott Fitzgerald (R), Wisconsin’s Senate majority leader, admitted Monday that Republicans would not be trying to limit the governor’s powers if outgoing GOP Gov. Scott Walker had won a third term, explaining that Republicans do not trust the incoming Democrat. It does not matter if they trust the next governor. Wisconsin voters chose to do so.
The GOP’s underhanded dealing in Wisconsin and Michigan is just the latest in a trend of Republicans upending principles of good government and democratic accountability for political gain. The party’s massive resistance to President Barack Obama culminated in a debt-ceiling fiasco and an improperly denied Supreme Court seat. Republicans in state after state have imposed new election rules designed to deter Democrats from voting. North Carolina Republicans stripped powers from the governor after they lost the 2016 gubernatorial election, a dirty play that has poisoned the state’s politics. There’s a common thread: Unable to change voters’ minds, they choose instead to change the rules.

Lets be fair, both major political parties have put party over country. The folks haven't mattered for awhile now.
Re: Here kitty, kitty, kitty
Democrats have passed legislation to try and keep people from voting?

so, up until recently, attempts by the outgoing party to change the rules have all been orchestrated by dems?DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 10:14 pmNah...

Okay. Please provide a link to where a Democratic majority in a legislature, in a lame duck session, altered the powers of the executive branch of a state government after a Republican was elected Governor.
Re: Here kitty, kitty, kitty
ummm...the entire article is a list of such efforts -- from appointment powers to redistricting powers, etc.
The fact that they're not exact precedents for what has happened in Wisconsin doesn't change the fact that this has been the practice in some states at some times for years.
Of course, the practice is stupid and venal, but that doesn't mean that it lives up to the hype. It's not “the greatest threat to the American republic since Appomattox.”
But then...you knew that.

Alright. Please provide a link to inexact precedents.
Re: Here kitty, kitty, kitty
just found it interesting that the link failed to point that out...would seem a relevant point, depending on what kind of outrage the author was trying to illicitDCHawk1 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 12:00 pmThey've actually been orchestrated by both parties.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 6:15 amso, up until recently, attempts by the outgoing party to change the rules have all been orchestrated by dems?DCHawk1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 07, 2018 10:14 pm

He's not trying to elicit outrage. He's trying to defuse it.
I...mean...that's kinda obvious.

seemed like variation on "but what about..."
laying out numerous examples through history of BOTH parties doing it would've served as a better diffuser...but maybe i'm wrong

Think I missed the part where DC provided examples of when Democrats have tried to keep people from voting.
