The extremely difficult thing about this course is that almost all the holes are parallel with the coast. Hardly any holes going away or to the coast. So every shot you are dealing with a wind howling from either side.

I would agree that it looks cool (at least on tv) but...... After yesterday I feel it's a probably a dumb "thing" and the person who is the security manager at/for the PGA/Kiawah should be fired for what happened.
As cool as the scene was, Fans/patrons should probably NOT be allowed to walk on the course WITH the Golfers. The fact that Phil and Brooks were both "accosted" by the fans is/was unacceptable.

"Got dinged a few times in the knee in that crowd because no one really gave a s---, personally".
"Somebody jammed Ricky" Koepka said. "Ricky stopped unintentionally because he got drilled in the face, and then I got hit because he got stopped so quickly. There were so many people around."

Phil even said for him it was - "unnerving." Understandably so.

I watched the last nine.
I don't think the fans should be flooding the course before the round is over.
If a basketball player sunk a three pointer with 10 seconds left to put them up 7 ( basically game over, which is essentially what Phil did with the shot from the crowd onto the green ) and the home fans rushed the court, the home team might come away with a penalty.

Here's the thing. If Phil doesn't hit an absolute dart on 18, they don't allow that. But it was over the moment his ball landed 10 feet from the hole.

And he said "slightly unnerving but exceptionally awesome." Deep down he loved that shit, a ton of golfers did.

Golf needs to stop being this stuck up sport that looks down upon excitement and change.. It's actually attracting a young audience, even my under 10 kid was glued to the TV for the last bit. Get him to try to watch baseball on TV is a bore, he loved the final few holes yesterday.

"Purists" may argue the integrity of the game has been compromised but I say, how can a golfer not love the enthusiasm? It's great until the fans become completely obnoxious - which some do.
That being said, I feel you just can't have "fans" being allowed to touch/grab players in the middle of the course (during a round) without the player's consent.

Anyways, it was a great day for Phil.
Anyone know why Amy wasn't there? I hope it wasn't health reasons.

LOL i don't think phil books early flights home. Flying private as much as he does, my guess is they will do whatever to accommodate him.

The fact nobody asked him about it was surprising.

My guess, she simply doesn't come to events anymore and flying in Saturday night would have added pressure.
