I don't exactly remember the number but we were the very last room which was great for sneaking our pony keg up the fire escape stairwell that didnt sound alarms.

She mighta been catholic? Dunno.
For some reason in my faded memory, I do remember her room having a shit ton of tall red glass candles.

She was nice but also very guilt trippy.
I was there in 2001...so itd be pretty crazy if it was the same girl...she'd be the Mitch Lightfoot of RAs.

Yeah I don’t think she woulda been there yet but go figure.

She and the resident dood ended up getting married with a big Catholic wedding. Open bar, but with all the stuffy Catholic friends it was taboo to drink more than 1 or 2.

I drank about 15 anyway. (By the time of the marriage the bottom had fallen out on the whole Catholic thing for me). I was still among the more composed on the dance floor.

But yea now they’re moved back to the joco burbs with like a bajillion kids now.

I feel sorry for the kids in big Catholic fams. They’re indoctrinated without a choice, and it only seems inevitable that at least some of them will have the bottom fall out of their Catholic world too. I just hope it doesn’t fuck with them as much as it did with me.

Weird that our third floor Templin RAs used the same techniques...just for enforcing booze rules.
Guilt trips, hugs, crying.
Maybe mine taught yours the ropes.

For real.

I wonder what the typical RA profile is. Either be cool and don’t give a shit or embrace your silly power trip and stick to the rules, but for fuck’s sake don’t cry about it!

But in 315 we musta hid hundreds of natty cans in the ceiling tiles above the top bunk. I wonder if they’re still there.

I had another friend who thought it was ridiculous that the front desk RAs might arbitrarily search your shit, especially after hours.

So one night he thought it would be funny to prank them. He had a big duffel bag that he kept walking by with, as suspiciously as possible.

They finally stopped and asked to look in the bag. He feigns the “oh shit! You got me!”

In the bag is like, a bottle of KY jelly, a dildo, a suit, tie, and a Richard Nixon mask.

“...so am I in trouble?”

“Ummm no, nothing in here is technically prohibited in the dorms, but for real what in the actual fuck!”

After I was caught I had to write a three or four page paper about the dangers of marijuana to someone ( forget if it was her ).

I printed it in green.

We most of the time wouldn't bother sneaking through the front--fire escape routine was down to a science. Three man job--look out at both doors and the bag man.

Ha yup.

The punishment or whatever for getting caught was silly too.

It’s funny though - the kid I grew up with in elementary school who won the Dare essay contest is now the biggest pothead I know.

I knew a dude who smoked every day, aced his way through KU and KU med, went on to do a year or two of volunteer work in Africa for those in need.

Sorry DARE, you lied.
Or at least you did about some stuff.
You should not take heroin...unless you are Ardvark, then its totes cool.

What ever happened to ardvark anyway?

Dare I ask?

Not that I miss him.

Dood chased off a lot of good posters.

But that does both ways. Don’t let some random anonymous internet doucher get to your head.

Where would Artemis fit on the dating profile spectrum?

More party girl or more batshit cray?

Feel that pdubs KU Hoops trivia questions are fantastic so I have decided to have a weekly random trivia question.
Today I am actually going to do two.

This one may be all but impossible.
If someone can give me the correct answer I will buy and send the first person who answers it correctly a KU Basketball t-shirt valued at $40 or less that you can pick out AND send you a Bill Self autographed piece of the Fieldhouse floor if you can tell me what these two guys have in common....

This one is much easier (but still not easy) and I will send the first person who answers it correctly a Brannen Greene game/practice used item - if they want it.

In 1984 I saw R.E.M. perform in Hoch Auditorium.
In 1985 there was a "famous" person who had a controversial "performance" in Hoch Auditorium.
Who was it?
Louis Farrakhan.
WINNER!

Question for those of you youngsters who read this.
I know a couple of 20 something year olds who don't know each other.
If they witness/read something funny or witness something impressive they say - "I'm dead".
Of course I should ask them but I'm asking you - Why would they say "I'm dead"?
Maybe I need to take in to account that we live in a country where one person can say, "that's cool" and another person can say, "that's hot" and it means the same thing.

I take it as if they've found the funniest thing in the world and that has caused them to die from it, likely due to laughter.
