Fauci was got his ass handed to him by Rand Paul, and the meltdown to follow will be epic. I expect him to resign shortly.

You don't spend all your time figuring out who plugged the toilet until after you get the shit water to stop running all over the floor.
I think this is a little more important than a toilet overflowing...

The target for the Covid vaccine was obvious. This isn't the first coronavirus after all, we had SARS and MERS very recently. The target is the spike glycoprotein, that's what every single vaccine that is in clinical trials used. It's a protein that is necessary for attachment and entry into cells, and it's surface exposed. You have antibodies and T-cells that target that protein, and you neutralized the virus.

Once you've settled on the protein you're going to use, there's no real design required, you just use the protein sequence....it's basically cut and paste. If you want to make it a codon optimized sequence, that takes seconds and is done by a computer. The mechanisms for doing an mRNA vaccine were in place and remain the same regardless of what the mRNA sequence you want to deliver is. If you wanted to use shorter peptides rather than using the full length protein, it would be easy, manner of hours.

The entire genome of a virus can be sequenced in a manner of hours.

2 days is kinda dragging your feet.

Yeah, 2 days seems way too long.

I already have to stir this roux for like 45 minutes as it is!

The lab leak theory is plausible, just not all that important unless it stops some of this gain of function experimentation from now on. They have been studying Corona Virus vaccines about 20-years too. Making the "rushed to market" thesis pretty silly by the Walrusians. And here they still are holding their breath and throwing tantrums.

Exactly, you’re dumb enough to think that taking the vaccine is a medical decision.

A year ago, it wasn't. You were a "conspiracy, Trump-loving, Q-anon, etc." if you even questioned this. I'm not saying for certain that it came from the lab, but it makes the most sense. It also would make sense that they were able to design the vaccine so efficiently if the virus was designed in the same lab. I have to be careful what I say on here because the normal fair rules do not apply to me, and I get put in the hole if I say something that a few decide is "conspiracy", even though it may not be.

My main point is, the media lies all the time and don't be a fool by trusting their "facts."

What PhD wrote! The difference between the last coronavirus epidemic in early 2000s, Ebola in 2014 and now is that there is a way to deliver the mRNA.

This is also the reason why they can incorporate vaccines against variants so quickly

Ahhhh errrrr ummmm....

Here's what I posted in 2020:

That Nature Medicine article doesn't absolve the Chinese lab of all wrongdoing. It shows that the virus was not man-made by the standard cloning techniques used.

It doesn't mean that they didn't contaminate the area and seed it with bat coronaviruses that then got in an intermediary animal. (It's pretty well established that viruses jump from one animal to humans through an intermediary animal, such as a pig).

It also doesn't mean they weren't doing other experiments that caused the problem. For example, you could passage different viruses through non-host animals, recover the virus, and then test for infectivity in human cells, again recover and enrich the virus, and then that virus got let out or was released. You might do something like this to test for rate of jump of a virus from different intermediaries to humans, or you might want to discover alternate sequences in the gene encoding the protein mentioned in the Nature Medicine article that allow a virus to become a human pathogen. Or you want to create a human pathogen and not have it be traced back to you, by easy sequencing methods (the kind used in that paper).

In a vacuum, I think the most likely scenario is that this happened naturally. But goddamn it seems weird that there's a lab like that, that close to the wet market, in a country like China. It's worth at least more scrutiny.
