Oh I get it. I would guess it is just next to impossible to narrow down the animal to human transmission and how the animal is acquired, if it even was.

No, you cannot force vaccinations on someone. Unvaccinated people should not be allowed on airplanes or large sports/music events etc.

I don’t think it’s a stretch to suggest in the 70%+ vaccinated areas, covid won’t be a huge issue for the foreseeable future, but the maga, I mean, anti vax areas (trying to phrase it to make it appropriate for this bored), could be facing another wave.

No, you cannot force vaccinations on someone. Unvaccinated people should not be allowed on airplanes or large sports/music events etc.

Just got back from Hawaii, where they are not allowing unvaccinated people to return to work, but are also not allowing anyone who wants a vaccine to have one, a la the tier system.

According to locals I visited with, people are using it as an excuse to stay home and keep collecting unemployment checks, since Subway can't see their way clear to paying sandwich artists $30 an hour.

Meanwhile, the government, in their infinite wisdom, opened the floodgates to 100,000 tourists coming in per day with less than a 50% workforce in place. What could possibly go wrong?

The result? Long lines and shortages everywhere.

Getting a cab takes two to three hours, if you can get one at all. The one time we got a cab, the driver told me he was working 14 hours a day nonstop and the company was begging him to work more.

Want a rental car? Be prepared to fork over $500 a day on the odd chance that a company has one available or negotiate with an islander to pay a like amount to borrow their personal vehicle.

Uber? Good luck.

Lyft? Not happening.

Want to eat at a restaurant? Hope you made a reservation a month before you landed. Otherwise, you get to stand in line for an hour at McDonalds and then take your burger and try to find a place on a park bench to eat it, 'cause the dining area is still closed.

It is like stepping into a time warp back to March of 2020 or a teen dystopian novel.

Things that make sense in theory rarely take into account the human element. People will take just about any scenario and flip it in an unanticipated direction based on laziness and self-interest. A government official who has not had to do anything for himself or herself in years has no way of seeing how things will play out.
