They could have arrested many many more. They only focused on those who were violent, and many got away with it.

I haven't defended anything. Just given my opinion on what the potential end result in a worst case scenario could have been. And it isn't with those thousands of trumpers taking over the governement and ending our democracy.

They didn't sieze power. They threw a hissy fit that their guy lost.

Hell, even if they ultimate crazies of the group got ahold of politicians and killed them it still would not have resulted in siezing control of the governement, which is a pretty big part of something be a coup.
