Deal with it.
Nobody here would blame you. Drew is really annoying.

I'm still suspect as Drew as a coach ( in terms of elite coaches ).
He got the perfect storm of a title.
And one title doesn't make the coach.

But you probably put out some feelers, if for no other reason than to see how the job is being viewed, so...is Brad Stevens even interested...Would Mike Brey take it for cheap...and, to determine things like Scheyer's asking price and maybe do a basic background check on him...etc.
Not sure if they felt obligated but supposedly they did interview a Black man.
PERHAPS that played a part in their reasoning for feeling the need to put out the public statement?
Probably Chris Carrawell and/or Nolan Smith.

I give Self a 2020 Championship. And a defacto Final Four. Self has tunred around some lives and done the best he could with some "meh" talent a few times. K had a lot of structural advantages and the best players many times on his way to his permanent ass-kiss; his players did slap the floor and trip people on defense, which I consider to be epic coaching. Not in the same league really as Knight at his best or John Wooden. Reminds me a lot of a longer tenured Ted Owens. This is an opinion board though.

Yeah and I don't think it's particularly close. Not many better Xs and Os guy than Stevens.
Didn't watch much of him with the Celtics?

Every college coach looks like they're great with Xs and Os when they've got NBA caliber players....and when they had their hot run he had 3 or 4 guys end up in the NBA (Hayward obviously the best of the bunch). I think he's a really good coach. I don't think he's any superior to all the guys being discussed above.

And his Xs and Os didn't look all that great at times during his time as NBA coach. But looks like his coaching days are done.
Recruiting and retention of players are part of a college coach's job.
I only came to kick some ass...

Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.

I agree 100%.

He said not many better Xs and Os coaches than Stevens and i think that's probably way too generous.

Who do you think has done more with less in the NBA (indicating possibly being superior at Xs and Os)... brad stevens or quinn snyder?

Brad Stevens ended up being a somewhat overrated NBA coach. Not terrible by any means, but a month or 2 ago his long term future in Boston (as head coach) looked a little cloudier than i would have ever expected.

Link?

I think it's actually you doing the melting and not me. You're foaming at the mouth in every thread looking for some back and forth.

Stevens made the playoffs every year and won four more series in the same time span as the Jazz.

His Celts lost to LeBron and the Cavs in the conference final.
And his best team lost Hayward one game into the season.
And Kemba has never been healthy in Boston.

But but but pdub look at the rosters!
Celts have had just two more all star selections in those years mentioned above where both have been coaching and I'd say Gobert was snubbed in two of those seasons as he won or finished second in DPOY and Isiah Thomas was maybe not the best of picks.

I've said this in another thread--id give Stevens tenure a B which is pretty good for a college coach straight into the NBA ( look at prior coaches who have tried that and get back to me on how they started/lasted ). I personally blame Ainge just as much as Stevens for not getting over the hump--but I blame Kyrie maybe even more than that.

Drew is the perfect encapsulation of player talent being the most important equation when you run up against average coaches. Self took him to school anyway with the Topeka YMCA this year.

Not here to defend Stevens’s NBA run, but what the fuck has Quin Snyder done that Stevens hasn’t?

I think its time to get over being suspect of drew. he took a program from the ashes and all he does is win. drew and baylor have been on par with self and kansas for several seasons now. he just won a title in remarkable fashion. hes a good coach. not sure how thats really debatable anymore

I'm sorry.
I've seen too many instances of Drew's teams in times of dire straits hoist the worst of worst shots.
He did a good job with his squad. Hes a really good coach. And brought them out of the muck. Mangino did that too. Mangino was never an elite coach.

There's at least ten other active college coaches I'd rather have than Drew which means for me, hes suspect elite.

Bizarro world fanboy muse: instead of a prematurely ejaculated zags team, the tournament final is against Self.

yes, that Self, even that shitty covid season half court pound the post even if it’s Mitch fuckin Make A Wish Self, from this very season.

You think there’s a person in the world picking the bears?

Up to and including Scott “I can’t believe I forgot to pick up my clown suit at the dry cleaners the day before they closed last March” Drew?
