COVID-19 - On the Ground
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
I wouldn't get on a cruise shit BEFORE covid. They sound awful, really don't get the appeal.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
i cruised the inner passage from vancouver to alaska right after high school...it was awesome
but i think alaska is a different beast from most other cruise destinations. the demographic is much, much older than most cruises. and, it’s tough to easily see numerous parts of alaska by other means.

I believe so. Pretty sure it's an employer requirement.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 9:40 amcrew as well? (if you know)CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 9:27 am I read a blog entry by someone on that boat. Everyone on board is vaxxed and had to have a negative PCR test before boarding.
But, it is still something I wouldn't go anywhere near, not because I think I'd die, but because as soon as the two positives were discovered, everyone had to go to their room for 24+ hours and receive their meals jail cell style. Why would you pay that money when that possibility is so high?

This article pissed me off a little with some straw man boxing—the banana peel analogy being the worst. The origins of this thing, if the lab destroyed incriminating material like animal tests and strains of virus documentation, will never have the slam dunk evidence needed to satisfy researchers. Occam’s razor will probably have to do. Inadvertent exposure at facility studying virus; ass covering; profit. If they find an animal with the origin strain, it will be almost impossible to trace its source of infection. I don’t see any country wanting to blame itself for shoddy lab procedures that killed millions. China is not the most transparent anyway.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 2:19 pm more on origin hypotheses (but no real conclusion)

i doubt we’ll ever know for certain, largely because of lack of cooperation from the chinese governmentSparko wrote: ↑Fri Jun 11, 2021 10:08 amThis article pissed me off a little with some straw man boxing—the banana peel analogy being the worst. the article makes a number of good points though, despite its issues. the US public is largely oblivious to just how often shit goes awry, even in our own facilities. i also appreciated the commentary around “gain if function” studies and highlighting just how ubiquitous they can be

My neighbors all have covid. The 2 adults are both vaccinated and are both sick as fuck.
That's the first people i know in real life who have been vaccinated and still got sick.

May not be COVID. Or a breakthrough variant of Delta.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 5:36 pm My neighbors all have covid. The 2 adults are both vaccinated and are both sick as fuck.

Some on here have claimed "these are the safest vaccines in history". The facts are showing the opposite.

226 cases total. Nearly all were mild cases and have made a full recovery.

So, if you expected one, but ended up with 2, that is 100% more than expected.Walrus wrote: ↑Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:29 pm Some on here have claimed "these are the safest vaccines in history". The facts are showing the opposite.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
It s among the safest vaccines ever for those intelligent enough to get the shots. Republican states are holding firm in numbers of active COVID-19 cases--pretty high. Vaccinated states are much better off with much lower cases. It is all a big mystery.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
If eating ice cream doubled your chances of getting a mild, but potentially life threatening illness that effects 1 in 3 million people, no article would be published, no one would freak out about eating ice cream. Hell, ice cream headaches are painful and terrifying and no one stops eating it, and I'm sure eating it does correlate with increased chances of stroke, heart attack, diabetes, etc.. Not sure why people are actively seeking out ways to freak out about a life saving vaccine that MAY have rare side effects.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Myocarditis is not some small side effect. It can permanently damage the heart muscle. And this is all happening to the age group that has a .0003% chance of dying from covid. These parents are retards if they sign their kids up for this.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
You're comparing apples to oranges. You're only accounting for death as the only negative side effect of covid.
Even in youths and young adults, the chances of developing life threatening side effects are MUCH greater from Covid-19 than they are from the vaccine itself.
Remember, myocarditis is very rare, this has a correlation that appears to increase your chances of getting it by aboout 2-fold. Most of the cases were mild, and almost all of them have already made a full recovery.
And, even if its shown that the vaccine does directly cause myocarditis, it's still happenning at a lower rate than .0003%.
As of May, there were 2,500 deaths caused by covid19 in the US for those under 30.
