Neighbor's Fruit Etiquette Question

So, the ones in my yard are mine? Probably a couple dozen or more.

The whole tree could fall in my yard and it would miss the house. Pretty small tree.

I have neighbors that let oranges rot on the tree--so lazy they didn't pick any. Then the big freeze killed most of the citrus trees. And Flag Day became celebrate a dictator day. Here endeth my lesson.

Just pick them on the day that they're ripe enough and before the squirrels descend en masse and take every single one and say that you were trying to outwit the bushy tailed rodents.

I have many fruit trees in my yard and most, if not all of them have branches over the fence (six foot wooden fence all around, pretty much the norm in the area). A couple of my neighbors’ fruit trees also have branches in our yard. It’s just understood that it is acceptable to partake in the bounty if it is unreachable for the tree owner. My back neighbor claims he doesn’t like pomegranate but he does pick peaches and plums from my trees. I do occasionally get a couple of oranges from their tree even though I have a large orange tree of my own- his is a lot shorter and easier to reach.

isn’t it legal to cut branches that are extending over one’s property line?

i’d assume the same legalese applies to fruit on those branches

I guess if they fall in your yard, most states that fruit is now yours...but if the trunk is fully in your neighbors yard, you legally can't pick it.

I'd still pick it if I wanted it.
