Its not about what you are or aren't technically free to do.....its at the cost at which that "freedom" is allowed.

Ok. That's just called "life". Every movement and decision we make has a cost.

TDub wrote: Wed Jun 09, 2021 10:42 am Im torn because i understand the nees for capitalism at this point and the benefits. But, i hate the chains with which it binds. Long gone are the hopes and dreams of free living.

Where we differ, ous, is that i believe a move toward socialism further tightens those chains, not the opposite utopia that is perpetuated in the puff pieces of the college dropout.
I used to consider myself conservative, especially fiscally. You know, Republican.

As I grow older, I find myself socially liberal, and fiscally concerned.

I don't see the Republican party ever getting my vote again, unless they can manage a 180 from simply grabbing all of the power at any cost. This Trumplican party literally scares me.
I'm more of a libertarian than anything i guess. Though noone is truly 100% anything. But i do favor freedoms over most things and I do favor lesser governmental influence over most things. Trump is an enigma that, somehow, harnessed and lighted a powder keg. I feel the blame for lighting the powder keg is on him, i believe the blame creating of the powder can be spread around far and wide, and with all "sides" contributing
No points here that I would argue.

Thanks for the input

What are you not free to do? Please trust me that this is a serious question. There are certain costs to living in a community. One can argue about degrees but there are certain “freedoms” whose sensibilities have changed. But very often whenever someone expresses this sentiment it’s longing for when there were 5 million people west of the Mississippi.
I would like to hear the answer to this as well. What are the restrictions on your life that you dislike?

The bullshit answer you gave earlier about how freedoms have costs is nonsensical and evasive. What specific "freedoms" have you lost that you pine for?

The best version of socialism is defined by Michael Walzer’s phrase, “what touches all should be decided by all.” The great economic enterprises should be owned by all of us in common. Decisions should be based on what benefits all, not the maximization of profit.

That’s not what “democratic socialists” like Bernie Sanders are talking about...

People, rabidly afraid that there are magnets for government mind control and tracking in the COVID vaccine, willingly kill their minds with Lobster media. In searching for elusive freedom, they gladly gave away everything that actually underpins it. Taking stuff away from people is the only policy they support now. Blaming others is their entire information base. Their proudest moment was keeping President Obama from naming a qualified Supreme Court Justice kind of stuff.

What in the hell are you even rambling about? Youve made similar non sequitur rambling posts in multiple threads. Are you ok?

This just as much belongs in the Facebook thread, but can anyone tell me why Zuck is suppressing these sorts of accounts?

Of all the dumb shit published on social media, what about this content is so offensive that the platform would contact the account with threats of a ban?

This isn't the content that is being threatened by Facebook. That's an Instagram post. I have no idea what they posted on their Facebook page and whether or not it was inaccurate or inflammatory. I think that them calling it a "white supremacist terrorist attack" is a red flag that the user may be taking some liberties with the truth to be purposefully inflammatory.

We’re just so goddamned spoiled. So rich and fat that we can just say we should each individually be allowed to do basically whatever the fuck we want (while of course being entitled the benefit of the enormous public infrastructure and collective effort that supports it).
