F the NCAA
Re: F the NCAA
number of followers means jack shit
i have an instagram account that i haven’t used in 10+ years, but i once followed a handful of people...my “following” still counts, despite it being meaningless

TCU essentially admitted it.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:06 pmI agree. I'd be fine with that ending too.CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:03 pmSign me up right the fuck now for that and I will happily argue over the semantics.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:01 pm
Sorry i didn't use your preferred wording.
To me Save us = no punishment at all. And I don't think that's happening, especially not for KT.
But i don't think it'll be due to NIL changes, it'll be due to their inability to fully prove any of it.
Re: F the NCAA
Again, i agree...although has anyone had a punishment handed down by the special group handling our stuff?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:06 pmMeanwhile, the sanctions are getting less severe by the day for even worse offenders. It's the environment.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:04 pm What we are accused of doing (and were doing) are still not allowed under the new NIL changes from everything i have read. You can't offer recruits money/gifts to come to your school. You can't facilitate endorsements. Etc.
Re: F the NCAA
Ummm that's part of how you generate income from social media accounts (followers on insta, subscribers on youtube, both are just the click of a button)...so I'd say it absolutely means more than jack shit.

yes, i understand thatBasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:09 pmUmmm that's part of how you generate income from social media accounts (followers on insta, subscribers on youtube, both are just the click of a button)...so I'd say it absolutely means more than jack shit.
my comment was more in response to SDS still having followers despite not being a player for some time
i’d wager that most of his followers started following him while he was playing, not since he stopped
and, i’d wager a non-insignificant portion of his followers aren’t all that active, and hanging on every tweet/post
so again, raw number of followers really doesn’t mean shit
edit: aka, it isn’t indicative of his actual level of influence

I just wish he hung out behind QT, rather than in front of Brothers…

No, but they are part of the same organization existing at the same time in history.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:07 pmAgain, i agree...although has anyone had a punishment handed down by the special group handling our stuff?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:06 pmMeanwhile, the sanctions are getting less severe by the day for even worse offenders. Re: F the NCAA
At some point I would imagine, regardless of what the procedures say, the NCAA will go to Goff and try to broker some sort of deal that can look, in the press release, like a stiff punishment (but is not, in actuality, anything we really care about).CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:17 pmNo, but they are part of the same organization existing at the same time in history.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:07 pmAgain, i agree...although has anyone had a punishment handed down by the special group handling our stuff?CrimsonNBlue wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:06 pm

Re: F the NCAA
I thought the committee handling our stuff was entirely independent from the NCAA?
Re: F the NCAA
It's supposed to be independent of the general enforcement apparatus.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:34 pm I thought the committee handling our stuff was entirely independent from the NCAA?
But again - this is uncharted waters.

Gotcha. Is it still made up of NCAA employees?jfish26 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:38 pmIt's supposed to be independent of the general enforcement apparatus.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:34 pm I thought the committee handling our stuff was entirely independent from the NCAA?

The decision makers are not employees of NCAA, but the entire process is still under NCAA.The Board they report to has both D1 members and independent members.BasketballJayhawk wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 12:39 pmGotcha. I think it's fascinating to find out that he thinks that ALL of this discussion was so that ultimately, a fan could hand a player a fiver if you saw them at Chipotle, or you could periodically venmo them 8 bucks.
I only came to kick some ass...
Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.
Rock the fucking house and kick some ass.
Re: F the NCAA
No longer have to make those Venmo transactions private!
Re: F the NCAA
I, for one, could think of some excellent Mitch uses on Cameo.
