"His return is a major boon to the Jayhawks, as he projects to be their best defender and a major offensive cog for the team, which is ranked No. 4 in Jeff Borzello's Way-Too-Early Top-25."

"Agbaji, the No. 67 prospect in the ESPN 100, will go into next season as a potential first-round pick and Big 12 player of the year candidate. He is one of the best defenders in the college game, standing 6-foot-6 with a 6-10 wingspan and a strong 214-pound frame. He improved his perimeter shooting and could very well make another jump next season, as he turned 21 in April and has been on an upward trajectory in each of the past three years."

Though, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't dreaming of a Remy/Carr backcourt...

I'm hoping with all the other firepower on board Och won't feel like he'll have to stand behind the 3-point line all game long waiting for catch-and-shoot opportunities...take the ball to the f'ing rim, young man!

This team is stacked. Absolutely stacked.

But I'm worried. Self doesn't do well with deep ass teams. And this team is reallllllly deep.

I was gonna say 08. I'd say 16 and 17 were fairly deep and we did well those seasons too.

On paper though, this team looks kinda nuts.

They were deep sure, but he always plays 7-8 guys. 08 , Self played 7 guys 17mpg or longer and the 8th was Rodrick Stewart at 11mpg.

2016-2017 was largely a 6 man rotation. Bragg and Udoka were 7th and 8th at around 12mpg.

He won't play a lot of guys a ton of minutes. He never has and he never will. He caps rotation at 8.

There's going to be about 3 really pissed off guys this year who won't play what they think they should because Self won't play a 10 man rotation.

I remember the summer before the Lawson season how deep we thought we were....so it's always tricky to predict unproven (at KU) talent. What greatly helps this team is that our 4 best players (DMac Wilson Och and Braun) have all played TOGETHER for multiple seasons. That familiarity is so important in college hoops imo. Especially on Self coached teams.

08 was deep with NBA caliber talent. No surprise that team won the national title and had 8 guys play in the NBA.

Weaker non-conference schedule, by recent standards, should give him time to establish more of a bench. When you spend all of November and December playing marquee Top 15 matchups, you're going to play the guys you trust the most to win the game. You don't have a lot of 15-20 point leads you can use to tinker with some different lineups.

That team was also 10-0 with multiple Top 10 wins before the country's most dominant player got hurt and the best shooter on the team was kicked off/quit. Deep team that can run 8-9 guys out gets real thin, real quick, when 2 starters go down.

Yep, I think given what Udoka was in 20 we can assume his injury was a major reason why we struggled later in the season.

Agreed....but guys like KJ Charlie and DMac weren't the quality depth we were predicting during the summer before the season.

You’re not wrong. Just don’t everyone to think that Self is going to play a deep rotation, because he won’t.
