Honest isn't the first word that comes to mind when I read that. I won't bother to ask for your source on that.
COVID-19 - On the Ground
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
There is no excuse for allowing oneself to spread disease or die from a preventable one. Missouri is a public health disaster right now. Bad, bad news.
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
There are 4 reasons in that article with the slightest of credibility in this order:
1. Access/time
2. Trust of government/companies/health care
3. Trust of vaccine ( in terms of its expediency and not approved by FDA )
4. Covid not a real threat ( younger people or those that find the % chance of death if contracting it not serious enough )
The side effects could be somewhat lumped in trust of vaccine and of course conspiracy theories arent worth anyone's time but lobsters.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Delta variant is weird. Viruses typically don't evolve to become more deadly, more contagious sure, but not more deadly. Its in their best interest to not kill their hosts.
Im not a virologist....just based on what ive read over the years.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
in the long run, and exclusive of vaccines, you’re exactly right
a parasite or virus that kills its host isn’t going to last. but, because of vaccines and treatment, we’ve taken the bite out of the natural selective factors
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
who is in charge of naming the variants? wuhan? pfizer? uncle joe?
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
So lobster was right we shouldnt have gotten the vaccine.
Thats a joke for the dense.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
Named for where it was first discovered i think.
Uk variant
South africa variant
Etc.
Unless that place is China.

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
there’s actually been a number of different naming strategies employed thus far, but i think the current most widely used strategy (alpha, delta, etc.) is from the WHO
at least one earlier strategy used information about where the mutations had occurred, and what those mutations were (which amino acids changed) to name variants...a much more biologically meaningful strategy, but one that was difficult to explain/understand
i think there have been at least three different naming strategies thus far
the media and politicians like to use geography, but just because a variant was first detected somewhere doesn’t mean that’s where it originated. add to that the social/racial/ethnic implications, and i think it’s pretty obvious that using geography to name a variant has more problems than benefits

Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
anybody remember where the Spanish Flu actually originated?
Re: COVID-19 - On the Ground
as soon as we get bored of the delta variant, wuhan will whip up another. put it on a plane. send it to italy.TraditionKU wrote: ↑Fri Jul 09, 2021 10:55 am the media and politicians like to use geography, but just because a variant was first detected somewhere doesn’t mean that’s where it originated.
