Branson (and Bezos) getting a lot of shit today. People feel there are more important things these guys should be doing with their money. If they weren't generous guys I might jump on that bandwagon but I say they can and should do as they please with their money.

I like you Rob but let's look at the big picture here. Branson does more good for the world than 90+% of other people on this planet. As far as other wealthy people, if they give much of their money to charitable causes you take issue with them paying 250K to do as they please?

while i begrudge no one for spending their own money how they choose, this all just seems kinda silly while in the midst of global climate and biodiversity crises

1) there are parts of the economy that would benefit more from those investments

2) investing in our environment and/or conservation of the natural world has benefits far beyond economic ones, but those investments also benefit the economy in a much more lasting way

Virgin Galactic has 800+ employees whom I assume are not all billionaires. I also assume thatany hundreds of others also earn their living based on the success of Virgin Galactic. If some rich dipshit wants to pay $250k so those employees can work and pay for their lives, that's cool with me.
