I'm extremely proud of America's involvement in vaccine development, vaccine roll-out, the way it's been administered. In that regard, go USA!

I'm just disappointed in the 30-40% who won't get vaccinated, who should. And the misinformation campaigns that encourage it.
I only came to kick some ass...

the folks did. the deviants and malcontents will not because they are dependant on their capture. they never have to move forward as long as they can claim to be a prisoner.

Just curious because we can vilify rural americans not getting vaccinated all we want, but this virus didn't originate here. It traveled here. So if the rest of the world isn't getting vaccinated then that risk of mutations will remain regardless of how much we beat our heads on the table about rural Republicans not getting vaccinated.
Let’s just take your first two sentences. We could have been waaay better of than we are, and that is solely because a faction of the population thought that this whole thing was a political issue and not an epidemiological problem.

Again....as Trad pointed out earlier....its not just rural Republicans refusing to vaccinate. You think all that black and hispanic communities that are choosing not to vaccinate are Republicans? I don't.

That line of thinking is part of why it's become a politcal issue and will continue to be one.

Also, anti-vaxxers was never aligned with a specific political party, regardless anti-vaxxers can eat a bowl of dicks, Nor does fear of needles follow partisan lines to my knowledge.

However, I do think that the people who think they're being a modern-day Patrick Henry ARE political. And they can eat a bag of dicks.

zsn’s point, i think, is that the right largely resisted the severity of the pandemic from the jump, prior to vaccines even being a thing

had they taken it serious, and followed the science and what our healthcare professionals were saying, we’d be in a much better spot now

sure, there’d still be hold-outs that wouldn’t get vaccinated, but that number would likely be much smaller

and illy, it hasn’t “become” a political issue...it’s always been one

and i know you like to argue, without evidence, that both sides politicized it, but only one side follows the leader that said it was a hoax, said it would miraculously just disappear, said to use bleach or inject disinfectant, and asked about putting UV light inside the body, among other things flying in the face of medical fact

The Patrick Henry analogy is interesting.

Among the anti-vax demographic, how many are folks who legit think they’re being true patriots, just like the founding fathers envisioned, by defying the gummint’s health precautions.

And among that demographic, the sentiment seems to extend to far more than health precautions.

Those extremes are such a small portion of the people on the right imo.

I know almost nobody who thinks it was a total hoax.

I know lots of people who don't think it was deadly enough to the vast majority of the population for year long shutdowns. I don't necessarily agree, but it's an opinion that i can respectfully disagree with.

Both sides politicized it. Albeit in different ways and to different degrees. But politicized nonetheless. And it continues to be politicized to this very day. By both sides.
